And that is where you would be wrong.
The higher the rate the more drastic the inacuracy.
NO factory speedometer is 100% accurate.
BUT when it's over 160mph go ahead one deserves the bragging rights.

LOL.... This is funny! Yes, Steve did not like the fact that I got all the attention, and it did not help that I was the one that eliminated him from the event. So sorry Steve, but one of us had to loose. Ok, Buggin...... we have beat each other, and we are usually always within a tenth of each other, but don't be too proud of your car because the XFire is a faster car than yours. You just have the advantage that my fat *** weights about a hundred pounds more than you. LOL!

Seriously, I love all the banter, and Steve and Buggin are both great guys with totally awesome rides.

Fully stock everything including correct rims, tires sizes, and airboxes, I hit about 162mph on highway 75 in texas at night at about 3:30AM. It an almost fully flat surface. Stayed that way for several seconds until i let off... Magellan GPS confirmed it.

Ditto the wheels comment. Without a tune, the limiter kicks in way before that. Your speedo (not your swim trunks) has got to be off.

then someone has been into your ECM...and changed the limiter setting...mine is now at 190 setting, but as discussed several times on here, the top speed, due to gearing(3.07), rpms(6200), and with perfect conditions, which doesn't happen, would be in the mid 180's...

that's what I was thinking; most people if they "de-mod" a car prior to selling it will not bother to have the ECM reflashed back to stock

The tires you mention would have made the speedometer read slower than you were actually going? SO something just doesn't add up here.
172 with a 158 governor, No Tune, and at 3:30am.
Were you just coming home from a hard night out or just making it up as you go?
Does the 172 just happen to be below my posted 173mph?
If you can do all that with a stocker I wasted a bunch of money on my engine.

I will go ahead and say I am the resident expert here.

With many runs down the Texas Mile. My first two events in the crossfire, the 155mph was not reset to 200mph and each time right at 155mph the power would go away. I trapped speeds in the last 132 feet at 153mph and 154mph timing the cut-off point to just the other side of the 132 feet point. Not once did the car get anywhere close to 158mph on many attempts through the speed traps. I was 80 feet above sea level with new tires, it did not matter, the Tag Heuer timing system did not lie.

Then the Eric figured it out and things got better.

My final speed was 163. The fact is the SRT6 just won't get over the true 155 mark and trust me guys, I tried every trick in the book besides of course resetting the limiter.

ok for im back!!! 13dog heres how your speed is determined.

²
Speedometer, the input is transmitted by the
Controller Antilock Brake (CAB) and is determined
using input from the four wheel speed
sensors. The individual wheel speeds are compared
and checked for logic. If significant differences
in individual speed signals are recognized,
the speed is determined from the speed of one
of the front wheels. If the speed signals differ significantly,
it may be due to wheel spin, cornering,
or a defective speed sensor. If the computer
identifies by means of sensor comparisons (comparison
of each side) that the vehicle is cornering,
the speed is determined from the value of
the front wheel speeds. If the comparisons indicate
one or more different wheel speeds, the
vehicle speed is determined from the highest
wheel speed. This also applies if a fault indication
is received instead of a wheel speed signal. In this case, an error bit is also set. If any fault indications are
received for all wheel speeds, the speed displayed is
909.
this is directlu\y out of your servic e manual

its easy to see why your speeds can be off by 5 mph or more

for facts i didnt say a srt-6 couldnt do 160 mph i said YOURS couldnt do it because you have a stock non tuned or delimited car. ecu settings are set at 155 mph , no more no less.
hk phooey you win the teddy bear!!!!

now I know roadster's are faster....lol.... stock....well, sort of, I had just installed the code 3 pulley, and a single NW CAI...but she hit the 160 backed off a little, and I let off at that point...as it had cut out breifly...my buddy right next to me was speechless until 55...his next statement I will never forget...."those telephone poles look just like one at that speed, I have never been over 120, and you just hit 160....I believe the 158 is correct, and momentum carried the speedo to 160, but it is what it is...I don't worry about it anymore....I had help with the road that evening with a couple of deputy friends from that county who live on that stretch of road...they were playing with their new LIDAR, and an older RADAR units...and they verified it as well...regardless, what impressed me about this car, was this happened from a dead stop to that speed in 9/10ths of a mile...as we measured the distance with the car's odometer where I let off...amazing little car for no engine work...not many today can match it...
