I know how bad you want a SRT, I'm just trying to give you a little more information. Good luck.
x2 I'd hit the section of the forum that has the regions. Find someone close to this dealership and at least have them take it for a test drive and look over. Put up a new post "Anyone live near Oakland, NY?". 2 cents

Yeah...good research. Not too concerned about that as it looks like one is regarding service and one never actually purchased a vehicle. I've never used that Car Dealer Check site before...but it doesn't look like it's too "official". Thanks for the info though...every bit helps.

OH...and the CarFax is avail on the dealer's website...I do like that aspect, usually means there is nothing to hide. I'm going to pick up the AutoCheck here shortly as well.

Ohhhh...... Not true!!!! Many shady car lots specialize in buying wrecked cars at auction that have a clear carfax. CarFax does not pick up all damages. Dealers can buy damaged cars at auction real cheap and sell them to you as if they have not been in an accident. This will usually be picked up by AutoCheck, as it will disclose the terms that the auction house sold the car.

There are a couple of businesses in Atlanta that do this. They focus on Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, etc. cars. They have been exposed on T.V. before. They just change the company name every year or so. Once again caveat emptor.

OH...did not know that...I knew I liked AutoCheck better for some reason...lol.

AutoCheck looks good as well. 2 calculated owners. No accidents (reported). 93 on a 91-93 scale. Only lien reported was when the car had 5,000 miles. Couple auctions it went through. So far, so good?

I think my last follow-up is to see this car in person or through another forum member, right?

That, or most areas now have companies that can provide auto inspection services. They will do a full inspection on the car and provide a written report on the condition. That might be a better option than a plane ticket, but it looks like things are checking out. Good luck with it.

And, yeah the companies in Atlanta I was talking about have cars listed at 5 to 10k below the fair market value. They pass themselves off as high volume wholesellers and seem very legitimate. I have seen some bad horror stories from them.

Hmm...that is interesting. I wonder if AutoCheck or CarFax would cover if the car was indeed a flood victim. I think getting an inspection company is looking better and better.

Wow, interesting read. I think that I would have to pass on that one. People that have had dealings with him seem very passionate about their hate for the man.

And the search goes on???

Yeah, I would definitely have to have the car inspected professionally. Even then...I don't know. His Ford dealership did get shut down though. Then he recommended them to go to his other dealership (crazycheapcars) I can see where that would lead to trouble and he could just be part of a bad business model. May not affect the car...but yeah...I'm not taking any chances.

Yeah, that one is VERY nice. It's crazy to think there is a $5,500 between the two cars though.

I hear ya. If you are not needing something right away, patience will prevail. There have been several SRT's that have belonged to forum members that were immaculate that have sold at good prices recently. If I were not in a hurry, I would prefer to buy from a forum member anyway. You can look back through the history of their posts and learn a lot about the car. Also, most everyone on here are passionate about their cars and I would tend to think that they would be better taken care of than the average Crossfire.

Yeah, I just found this car:

2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6, $19,500 - Cars.com

Talked to the guy and he said he was on the forum for awhile to gather information and determine good mods. It has a NW intake, SC pulley and a tune. Looks to be in great shape. Obviously, on this one I would do a inspection as well. Seems like it might be a little better "risk" than the $14K crazycars one...

BTW....before I go any farther...I really appeciate you guys giving your opinions and ideas. Makes me feel a lot better and I remember why I liked this forum so much when I had my black SRT-6. Great group of people we have here.

After reading all of these posts, all I can say is:
SLOW DOWN!

You're going to spend around fifteen thousand dollars here. Take the time to find exactly what you want and spend a little more to make sure you're getting what you pay for. If that means hiring and inspector, so be it. But more importantly, it means waiting for the right car to come along.

Hey Tom.... I agree with you 100%! But, when the bug bites! LOL I know I have been there.

BTW satellite, that one in Key Largo looks very nice, and has the right upgrades. NW Intake, C3 SC pulley, and a Tune. The HP and torque both look right for those mods. That would be a 12.2 range car in the quarter with some sticky tires.

If you buy one stock, you will most likely end up with these or similar mods anyway, and they are not cheap. So, with the mods that he has, I do not think that is a bad price for it.
