Oh, another reason the DI water is used in power plants is its a very poor electrical conductor. I cant think of anything better when working around thousands of volts of electricity.

Other products exist to lower coolant temps. One I remember is water wetter. Most rotary guys recommend using this product as temps are even more critical to a rotary engine. Last time I read the data they indicated real world drop in temps of 100 degrees. Might be another option. I believe this product is from Red-Line oils.

In order to run without anti-freeze, you'll need an additive package like RMI-25:

You can get DI filters at most aquarium stores or online. I have a Reverse Osmosis DI filter that I use to make water for my Reef Tank. A lot of Aquarium stores that sell Salt water fish sell RO/DI water for less than a $1.00 a gallon.

Re-reading this i noticed some were confused on what coolant woody was talking about running the 20%antifreeze/80 water mixture in.

Woody was talking about the supercharger coolant not the engine coolant. Isolate your engine coolant from the supercharger coolant and run a lower mixture of coolant to water. You will have reduced intake tempatures and more power for longer.
