Ta-da: 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6

The Crossfire is the first Chrysler to join the SRT ranks, joining Dodge's Neon, Viper, and Ram. Like it's corporate brethren, the Crossfire is packed with more power. Motivation comes in the form of a 3.2-liter supercharged V-6 making 330 horsepower. Sound familiar? It should this is the same engine found in AMG-badged Mercedes-Benz vehicles, although the SRT-6 makes do with nineteen fewer horsepower. Since the Crossfire is heavily based off of the Mercedes-Benz SLK, the powerplant is a natural fit, as is the five-speed automatic transmission. Slushbox notwithstanding, the SRT-6 will be good for 0-60 times in the low five second range.
Open-air enthusiasts will be glad to know that the SRT-6 also comes in convertible form. The only major difference is slightly softer springs in the topless model, although the spings in both SRT-6 cars are about 50 percent stiffer than in the normal Crossfire.
Other items exclusive to the SRT-6 are a fixed rear spoiler, front chin spoiler, larger brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport tires on 15-spoke wheels, a 200 mph speedometer, and race-inspired seats. Expect the SRT-6 in dealerships in the second half of 2004.
Not much new info, but helpful nonetheless.

And the dealers say, "SRT-wha?"
Went to a dealership to inquire about the SRT-6 today. "SRT-wha?" was more or less the answer. No one knew that this thing debuts at Geneva in less than a week, and could be on their lots as early as late August
The wheels I don't mind at all -- it's continuity with the SL-like side-strakes. The spoiler is a different story. Maybe it's like the Audi A4 where the thing looked so much better in person, but I have a gut feeling I won't be pleased with it.
I'd expect the car to have an MSRP of about $42,000 - $45,000, but only early adopters will be paying that. The real situation is going to be like with the current coupe where I could've walked off the lot with one (of FIVE) for $30,600. I'm going to guess leasing the SRT-6 will be around $450/mo once there's an incentive.

I have to admit, when the Crossfire came out I went to take a peek since I'd have an SLK320 outside if I could justify $50,000 equipped for a car. Heck, it even has the typical Mercedes "Rest" mode, which I didn't expect. Yet in the end, I figured I'd be better off with a 350Z Touring or S2000 with what I was looking for. However, with a slightly detuned AMG engine under the hood, this is a cheap SLK32 and there's no denying it -- besides, you know that 20HP is probably due to an intentional restriction of the exhaust system.
First time in a long while in which I'm honestly interested in buying American, though we'll see how things culminate in the following months. If all goes well, I'll probably end up further dragging down the average age on this forum.

OK, who is willing to tackle this one............I am on the block with a down payment to get a 2004 with a stick, white with Cedar interior. One dealer is saying no more are available to order for 2004, they've stopped making these , and the other says he has mine on order, just be patient and wait. Question: which one is blowing smoke up my pipe? Thanks for truthful info. (Also, anyone think I should wait for the SRT-6, tho I simply hate auto shifters!!) 8) 8)
and the moon is made of green cheese
Find another dealer.. Karmann produced over 18000 in 2003,,, Dealer inventory nationally is 3 times the norm..Fly if needed to where your car is and drive it home. You should be able to obtain a vehicle for ~30K I am as we speak corrosponding with Karmann whose role the birth of Xfire seems significant. I am trying to obtain a Karmann badge for my car.

You can get the Kleeman, but you won't be getting the exclusive wheels (maybe you like it or you don't), the suede seating surfaces, 13" brake rotors, rear spoiler, front spoiler, possibly its going to have HID, the sportier suspension (stiffer springs), better tires, etc. To make a regular Xfire perform to the level of the SRT-6, I think it'll cost more.

Guys, the Crossfire will go down in automobile history. Everything wrong with it now will only make it a truly unique car. Sure, you hate the spoiler, but give it a break you will learn to like it. Remember the Plymouth Superbird? That car in mint condition is bringing $100ks. I think everything about the car is great. 30-40 years from now, people will be scrambling to find a original Crossfire SRT-6 with the factory spoiler, they will want it as authentic as possible. So for those who can hang on to cars, this is it. For sure the Crossfire will be a collectible, keep the original wheels, spoiler and everything else it comes with on it.
Give the SRT-6 a chance! The specs are awesome! I will be one that will be getting in line to buy one. I'm calling Chrysler Monday to get my name on the list.

I'm going to look at the SRT-6 when it comes out too, I think it'll be badass... hopefully I'll still be working for Lithia up here and get another invoice-discount deal
Maybe you're right EVS Motors, not all of us here liked the plastic center console of the Crossfire at first, but, later on learned to live with it. But i still wished they kept the old design with a faster engine, new wheels, suade leather seats and the new front spoiler ( not much interesting if dealers put a license plate holder on it )
With my experience with the Crossfire, maybe I'll change my mind about getting an SRT-6 for now....with a Chrysler Customer Service :?: :?: :?: I think unless they improve it...I'll risk my money for a Chrysler SRT-6.
If they can't fix a Crossfire around here..how much more an SRT-6!
