I took a drive down there last weekend to take a peek at the car. It's beautiful 'cept for the giant crease down the passenger's side front fender & there's a scratch along the passenger's side door. Besides missing the floor mats I couldn't spot anything else screwy with the car.
The dealer isn't listing the price & he won't answer my emails so contacting him would be via the phone, I'm assuming.

 

remeber, salvage title means its worth 1/2 of what it woudl be worth with a clean title. so figuring that car with the messed up fender is worth 12-14k you would need to grab that salvage car for 6-7k for it to be a good deal

 

Then there's shipping for some of us.

Salvage title means different things indifferentstates but universaly it means, 1/2 the value of a clean title.Almost impossibleto get a car loan, and insurnce is not easy.

Some states require a special inspection for roadworthyness on salvage title purchases. I have heard that, in Florida, it is almost impossible to sell a salvage title vehicle. Because it is hard to get it licensed. I suggest checking before you do.

I bought a salvage title '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee last fall. Car is virtually perfect except for the title. All the bells and whistles. We have no comp, just liability. Someone steals it I'm out $3,000. But it gets us about in the snow leaviang the Crossfires safe athome. So this year, it was a wise buy.

The only reason to buy a salvage SRT is if you want to mod and race it. Or for parts. Keep in mind that most Insurer's will not cover the car on the track. So if you have a $45K Srt or a $25K SRT you are out if it flips on the dragstrip.

So buy a $7K to $10K SRT salvage and take out the worry. Spend the savings on Needswing mods, decent drag tires and Eurocharged tunes.

Then drive it like you stole it, cause you did.

States as far as titling goes are all different too. The state of Texas is known for "washing" titles.... I think I wanna say Tennessee is too..

 

I just want what looks like heated seats; with the wiring and switches. Followed by the fog lights, front or all four rims, and faux vents...I guess I ask for too much

 

I would sell all of the items you mentioned off my car for the right price. Making your way to TX anytime soon?

I cannot beleive the insurance company totaled that car for the dent on the fender. The car, sans the dent, loooks perfect, and with low mileage to boot. To repair and repaint is less than 5k, what's up with that?

 

body may be twisted, or lack of new parts...not everyone wants a bondo car...and the labor to fix it can add in as well...remember, if you are doing the work, then there isn't the 60-80 bucks an hr added in...and painting a whole car around here would cost $5k easy...

 

I called this morning and spoke to JR the price 8995.00 he said it needed a tie rod end also on the side that was hit but the car runs out really good motor sounds great no noise .... some one should jump on this one I would but i'm in the process of buying a Motorhome for the misses and me,,,

 

I'm telling you guys, the car looked great & if I had another 10K to blow on a car I'd snap this one up in a heartbeat. Heck, someone might even be talented enough to pull out the dent on the fender without having to replace the thing. I guess it all comes down to how close to perfect you'd want your car to look.

 

Pop out a dent and replace a tie rod. Whole package under $10K
But still with a salvage title.
What a shame.

It didn't appear that way, James, I mean, there certainly wasn't anything else apparently damaged or repaired, for that matter.

The guy who first pointed out the SRT to me has bought several cars from this guy with no problems.

Of course, this is the same guy who constantly pesters me about my dog of a SRT (he owns a 85 'vette with the L98 engine - NOT a world beater by any stretch of the imagination plus a couple of pansy Mustangs) & the fact that all Benz's are really pieces of crap. I already told him to please bring anything you own & when I get done putting the smack-down on them I expect no more endless teasing about "crap Crossfires".
Oh, & get this, when I told him what Hcarter discovered about the price he's now "thinking" about buying it.

 

Almost forgot - aw, Tighed, take the drive from Pleasantville, AZ to the land of seemingly endless winter (though there is NO WAY we can compete with the East Coast this year!) to the burgeoning town of Weyauwega (they may have motel, I'm not sure) & get the tie rod replaced, stuff the side marker back in place with some duct tape & voila', another car for your collection!

 

I goitta wonder how the tie rod end broke and the wheels are fine. Seems more might be wrong..

Getting it upon a trailer shouldn't be hard but sans a visit to Weyawega ( which is an indian word for "why would anybody ever come here?") how would you drive it up on one, much less drive it home?
