Nervous Women or New Breed Of Crossfire Owners
Nervous Women or New Breed Of Crossfire Owners
So this past weekend I saw not one, but two Crossfires while my wife and I were tooling around town. On both occasions I caught up to the other Crossfire, looked over and beeped my horn and on both occasions the women who were driving the cars, did not even look over.
I have to say that I was a bit disappointed that neither driver acknowledged a fellow Crossfire Owner. I can see maybe if I was in the car by myself, but my wife was with me and I pulled along the other car's left side, so they would have seen my wife.
Do you think these women may be nervous or are is there a new breed of Crossfire owners who look at our cars as just that, another car?

I think it's sadly my generation screwing this up. I see another Crossfire owner I ALWAYS pull up and try to talk to them, hell at my last base the base commander had a BEAUTIFUL SSB SRT-6 and we'd ALWAYS sit there and BS about our cars. But to my generation its another nice looking vehicle for a decent price...that they can put under body lights on. (Gag me with a spoon).

Re: Nervous Women or New Breed Of Crossfire Owners
Here in AU there are only a few xfires, and all but one or two will return my "beep beep."
Back around my parent's house there are more, but no one seems to care. I guess it's just a bigger city than compared to this one.
When I was there over christmas I pulled up next to a little blue one and honked. Some lady, looked to be between 40 and 50, looked over with a blank face. I just hung my head and drove on.
It is always sad to see one of our cars driven by someone that doesn't care about it. It's amazing to me how many people don't care about what they drive. Half of the people I know have cars that are hard to get into because of the amount of trash laying around in there. And only way they get a hint of being washed is just overspray while I'm washing mine. Poor cars.

Had the same experience. I think one very hot showgirl type was so sure that I was after her body she didn't even notice we had the same car. And yes, my honey was with me. Some of these people like it cause it's cute and probably think it's really a Chrysler. These people aren't really car people. They're not like us I tell you, they're like aliens
Re: Nervous Women or New Breed Of Crossfire Owners
Aliens, yes, they are EVERYWHERE! I have only seen TWO XF's in and around Sumter SC. Both times they were parked (one was parked in a stealership). Yes, I am sure there are more 'out there', but I have yet to meet one coming or going on the road.
Have mine only 6 1/2 months, @ 30 more months to screw something up so that its covered (without obvious abuse factored in, that is)! hehehehehehe

You are obviously driving in the wrong state, I'd wave.
Normally I have to go out of my way to see other Crossfires (CCC FTW! ). I'd love to say hello to fellow Crossfires owners but they are few and far between in my part of town.
I've actually chased after one (think BC and I scared them) and left a note on a parked one (no response). Pulled over to say hi to a couple in one (traveling through from Wyoming). I have seen a coupe around the area lately but I never seem to be in my Crossfire when I spot him...one of these days...
It was the same way with my PT Cruiser. I got a first year model and was one of the very few in the state. Not only did other PT owners go crazy when we spotted each other but I couldn't pull up to a light without extended conversations from fellow drivers "What is that? That's awesome...Beautiful car...Wanna trade?... That reminds me of my (fill in car name) when I learned to drive...That reminds me of my Dad's (fill in car name)..." I've never made so many new friends so fast, lol.
The Crossfire gets looks but she doesn't get the same universal appeal that the first few years of the PT did. Sadly, as more PTs were sold, less and less of the people driving them knew how special they were. Now you can't throw a rock in Arvada without hitting one, I swear and I almost never get the wave anymore from fellow owners.

Your PT experience sound like my dad's when he first bought his Volkswagon in the fifties, then his Porsche in the early sixties. Good news is (depending how you look at it) the number of Crossfires will decrease. I guess that is the bad news too. Unless you're dying for a collector car.

Most young folks are simply following the advice most of the board members' ex-spouses gave the kids: "don't talk to strangers".
For many Xfire drivers, the car is just one layer of the bubble they'll take with them from bed to bed, from cradle to grave
So maybe instead of greeting each other, Crossfire drivers should take das Gospel to "ricer" gatherings. Maybe a few more enthusiastic converts can be made there. Besides, four cylinder cars just suck
Re: Nervous Women or New Breed Of Crossfire Owners
I have also noticed that not many of the Crossfire drivers I see are overly
friendly. I see another Crossfire on the road, I always wave or give a head light flash. I think in all that time (5 years, now) I've only had two or three even acknowledge my existence. Oh well. What are you gonna do? Some
folks just don't seem to have that Crossfire Spirit!
