question about the engine.
question about the engine.
ok i've got a question. will the SRT6 be using the same engine as the coupe and roadster but have a AMG supercharger? is that the only difference?
what i'm getting at is this. if that is the only difference then couldn't you get one and then buy a 6spd transmission to replace the auto.? yes it would cost more but you'd have the manual instead of auto

Re: question about the engine.
IF the engine is the same as the SLK32, than its a hand built AMG V6 engine. Its not the same as our current 3.2 with a supercharger, it has better tolerances. Also Mercedes does not have a 6 speed transmission that will handle the torque of the supercharged 3.2 engine.

well that sure busted my bubble huh
depending on the price difference i guess i could always get the crossfire i want (coupe or roadster) and save for the Renntech upgrades.
edit:
well if i got the renntech stage 3 (after awhile of course) what would happen to my transmission with 404hp and 410ftlbs of torque? their description doesn't say anything about that....hmmmm

The automatics are the strongest transmissions that Mercedes has to offer for their performance models.
From what I'm hearing the SRT models with be about $40k, and will feature other upgrades other than a supercharged engine. Possible a aerodynamic kit and a fixed spoiler. Also, you'll be getting distinctive wheels, better suspension and larger brakes.
I'm guessing the renntech kit is over $10K? Its cheaper and a more reliable move to get the SRT than upgrade a Crossfire that wasn't designed for 400+ hp.

yeah it would be cheaper to do so but i really really reaaaallly want a manual transmission. auto's are boring to me. and i'd be changing the wheels anyways and probably upgrade the brakes so that doesn't make a difference.....just trying to find a way i guess. anyone know Renntech's email so i can ask about the tranny question?
oh yeah, nice car what do you have in it?

My Xfire? Its practically stock with the exception of a matching silver Pioneer Premier CD reciever and XM Radio.
I just heard about this version of the Crossfire coming out with the engine from my current car. The bold looks of the Crossfire really need this enhancement to back it up. C32 owners have been getting 275-300 RWHP out of their cars in stock form. There are a few companies selling mods (pulley kits, etc.) in various stages that can boost the output of this engine to give up to 360 RWHP. This new Crossfire modded to that extent would be an incredible car. I hope they give it the right supension tuning, brakes and rubber to handle that kind of power. When you guys pick up your SRT-6s and want to mod them come join the C32 board at www.mbworld.org to catch up on a few years worth of modding tips.
