There's very little increase in static pressure at low speeds. Therefore you won't see any 1/4 mile difference between your setup and a vehicle without ram air. Maybe if you're racing 1/2 mile distances 150 mph+ will you notice any difference.
All current 7 and 9 cell canopies are ram air design(vs the old school round parachutes). They fly about 25-30mph, unless swooping...then its 70+mph.
Also the pilot chute that is responsible for removing the canopy from the container is filled with air at 120mph, the average fall rate at time of deployment.
Im not sure if this is comparing apples to oranges but thought id share on what the power of forced air can do.

Thats a damn fast time with the limited mods you have! great work.

I had borrowed the kit from a buddy of mine and was looking at installing one full time using our stock windsheild wiper fluid res as the storage tank. I ended up selling an extra car I had and turned the SRT6 into my daily driver so I have not finished the project nor bought my on kit.

Re: The endless pursuit of the perfect intake…
It is a little off topic…..but I just realized this morning that I have been driving around for god knows how long with the transmission in winter mode. I have been wondering why the car felt like a pig and got killed by cars that I should have beat or at least been a closer race too.

BLKFIN, checked my trans setting after your post. The roadster that I don't drive often was in the S setting.My coupe was in the winter mode. Like you I have no idea how long I have been driving like that.Sure was nice to get the power back. It is something I will always check now. Thanks for the post.
Re: The endless pursuit of the perfect intake…
That's a driving mode swtich
"S" = STUD
"W" = WUSSIE
I tried to drive my SRT6 in the "W" mode - but as soon as I get behind the wheel it automatically switches back into the "S" mode.
I guess there's an automatic sensor installed somewhere...

When I first purchased my Crossfire - a friend asked me what the "S" and "W" stood for - Ah... da... um....er...
I had to look it up in the owners manual...

I guess I should not take it too bad...both these V8s are 500hp +++

Thought I would bump this thread instead of creating a new one. Went for coffee this Saturday with the boys and had the chance to make a few runs. First was with a buddy of mine with a CTSV stroker, we ran before the stoker engine swap and my car was in the W mode and before the dyno tune when Jerry wiped out all the adaptation my ECU had stored and picked up 20+ HP. He lost before the new motor….and after…he was not happy. This is not the same 2009 Caddy that beat me, but non the less a potent car. His first words after the run was “What did you do to that car”??
Then he wanted to run my buddies C63 with an intake and Renntech tune. The C63 walked away from the caddy as I had predicted but the owner of the caddy felt I walked away faster than the C63. I have ran the C63 before, and it was not pretty. We decided to make a few runs and was surprise at the result. Now the C63 won…but not by much. From a 30mph run, I would jump out in front and he would real me back in at 120+. At a 45mph run with me in 2nd…he would just take off and I could not catch up. He would put 1 or 2 car lengths and it would stay that way.
The moral of the story is after time, the ECU starts storing info that actually makes the car slower. Having the ECU retuned every couple years may be a good thing!
