Default 2003 viper

I'm leaving a stop light doing 30mph when a newer style viper convertable pulls along side me, we take off and I pull ahead by a 1.5 car lenths and he can't catch me. We slow again and run again this time I pull 1 car length. we stay like this till over 140, where he slows. My question is with a v-10 shouldn't he have way more top end power being they make 500/535. Anyway I will venture to guess he just can drive it or the passenger he had slowed him down. Funny guy, he gets along side me when where driving and puts his window, so I state your car is fast, so he says yea it's faster then you so I said then how come you were behind me both times he just takes off.

The new style vipers are faster than our cars stock for stock. They can do 0-60 in sub 4 and the 1/4 mile sub 12. My son has a 2005 and the only way I can beat him is if he loses it on the launch, which is not hard to do given the amount of torque the car has. His car fishtails easily.

The guy you ran against probably didn't open it up all the way. I wish we could beat a new Viper, then I could strut around my son. I do remind him that the SRT can beat the older model Vipers.

Ok. So I took a look at your mods and see you are not stock. If you had a good launch, you may be able to give the new Viper a good run, but I still think he would have you beat with a potential of a 3.7 sec 0-60 time and a 11.7 sec 124mph Quarter Mile.

Both of you should come out to vegas................then you'll win. I can beat up stock Vipers all day long out here. Last time out there was a 2006ish body style(not the 600hp one) that was stock and ran consistant 12.7x's against my 12.1x's.

Pretty neat. Hopefully it really was a real kill and not just the guy not knowing how to use his Viper.

Me personally, I like the older model better.

There's plenty of Vipers out here roaming around and unless they're the 600hp version.........or modified...........they can't hang with my (not so stock)Crossfire.

This was one of the first vids posted of me. No tune just NW intake, 178 asp, and hoosiers. Was running low 12.6's sometimes 12.5's. Still love the way they sound and would trade for an 03 up. I bet I could get it to hook up.

I want a Viper. After hearing they are in the high 40's for a used late-model one, I'm salivating even more. Then again I can get a lightly-used Z06 for that money and it's probably more livable and just as fast.

100_2270.JPGMy wife has an 02 RT/10 with 2400 miles on it. That'a how it all started. She was with my son and I was in the crossfire. I was beating her easy because she can't shift when the other guy came flying up. I knew it would be close and I not surprised I beat him in a quarter mile I was surprised at the up top area. I stayed ahead till over 140 when he backed off. At that speed I'm surprised with the extra torque and 4 cylinders it didn't just walk away. This is the wifes car and her freaky motorcycle a Can-Am spyder which actually is a pisser to drive but lacks the cooooooolllll factor of My Indian Chief

I was looking into the Spyder a while back! The biggest drawback it the performance- at least in terms of motorcycles. Both of our cars are faster...lol.

Distant,
It is a blast. you can't fall off and you never have to put your feet down because they have reverse. My wife has a motorcycle license, but is small 5'2" and 115lbs, so she had trouble with the weight of the bikes it they got a little off balance. This solves those problems plus they come from the factory with anti-lock brakes, traction control and yaw sensors for stability. My wife was a big jet ski rider so she thinks this is like a jet-ski for land

Performance wise you can do bigger cylinders and bores and bump it to 160hp and 1060cc. Mine is 999cc stock but I am running Evoluzione cold air race system, Hindle performance exhaust and Two brother juice box plus evoluziones adjustable fan control. I'm right aroud 120hp and the bike will run 13's in the quarter with this set up. Remember with the traction control system it does slow you down because it won't allow the rear tire to spin faster then 30mph over the front ones 100_2195.JPG

That is awesome, but yikes! I checked the price on these babies. They are almost as much as I bought my car for!! LoL. I guess I will have to sell my malibu for 10k and save up some pennies to get one of these. What kind of MPG are you getting? That would be the biggest reason to get one because my truck is right at 15mpg!

If gas milage is one of the biggest reasons for purchasing a Spyder why not go with a used Honda Fit. Of course the obvious knee-jerk will be it's ugly and no where near as fun! lol However you'd be able to drive it around in the winter. Plus the biggest dangers about driving a motorcycle are still there....other drivers. Sure you can't dump it due to it's 3-wheel balance but you are still toast in an accident with another jerk-off driver. Just a thought!

PS That said- I would still love to own one!

Believe me dude, I am with you on everything you said. I think it would be fun to have in the summer and that is about it. I can't afford it for just a play toy though. That is why I have my 6!

I custom built the house and went 11'8" on garage ceiling height.
