Default New Supercharger On The Way

My daughter's SRT had a bearing going out and initially we thought it was the ones next to the supercharger. The dealer ordered 2 new ones and when they removed the belt they checked out the SC pulley and that was the problem.

Monday they are ordering the new complete Super charger. I tried to talk them into putting on the used one I bought on Ebay, but they declined. LOL

You mean the dealer ordered parts without even taking the time to properly diagnose the noise? They couldn't take the belt off during diagnosis? Sounds like time to go to a qualified dealer when your warranty runs out?

And why would you want them to put on a used eBay supercharger when you have warranty for a new one?

I guess it is all in "how you read" the post. It sounds to me the dealer ordered "2 bearings" and that wasn't the problem, only to find out it was the SC once they took the belt off to make the repair. What 2 bearings did the dealer order the first time?

Its called having CONFIDENCE in your dealer that you know what they are doing and getting it fixed properly the first time. Anyone can guess and throw parts at a problem until it is fixed. They misdiagnosed the bearings, how do you know they didn't misdiagnose the SC also? I hope they have an idea how to properly install it.

The car was taken in a couple of weeks ago and I got with the svc rep and we talked about the noise. We were hoping it wasn't the SC. He had them order the closer 2 bearings to save time and I took the car till they came in. It took 2 weeks. In the meantime the battery went bye bye and I took it back to the dealer. When they were getting ready to replace the other bearings they (the svc rep and mechanic) were checking out the car and decided it was the sc pulley bearing that was bad along with one of the other bearings. They ordered the entire supercharger not just the pulley.

The reason I suggested putting on the ebay SC was 1. to save time and 2. to have the new supercharger for my inventory.

Now that that is cleared up, I hope things work out for you.

I still think your dealer is lacking or lazy in their diagnostics. After all, it delayed getting the part (SC) that was the real problem from the begining.
Now you are taking it back one more time on their behalf. Hopefully it will be right when you get it back next time.

Good Luck, James

The only problem I have with this dealership, Palm Dodge in Miami, is the time it takes them to get a car in to diagnose the problem. Usually 2 or 3 days. Then when they have to order parts it can be 1 to 7 days depending on where the part is coming from. The service manager got educated by me on Friday. He will be paying for my rental car when it is over the 5 day limit due to their lack of timeliness on getting the car into the service area.

Mechanically, they seem to be ok. They have 2 certified SRT mechanics.

But............ But if this does not work out then I will be going to AMX Jim's dealer in Ft.Lauderdale. I know the rear end is going out in my SRT and will need replacing within the next couple of months. (got to slow down on those rabbit starts)

FYI
Local dealer had my coupe for just over a month to replace the SC.
Glad I still had the roadster to drive!
