Air Inlet, we'll call these the devil horns
Air Inlet, we'll call these the devil horns
we mocked these up for a customer running a sl55 box that wanted to plumb in cold air to the boxes. he already has the aluminum snorkle tubes from tvt to connect to these so his air WILL be filtered in the engine bay thru the sl55 airbox. the picture doesnt do the setup justice as it looks very very mean in person.
these same pieces could be used on our cai setup like shown below but you would be taking a very risky chance on sucking anything in (neighborhood birds) and it would surely be a run at your own risk scenario at the track if anyone wanted.

Re: Air Inlet, we'll call these the devil horns
Thanks to NeedsWings and TVT for supplying the parts I needed to create the SL55 Hybrid Intake .
Two factors played a role in upgrading the SL55 intake, cost and inlet location. I would have liked to purchase the Dual Intake from NeedsWings but that would have significantly increased my intake expense. So, I opted to improve upon the SL55 setup I already have. TVT already did the leg work on the tubes and Needswings improved my rendition of inlets.
Thanks to both companies for helping create the SL55 Hybrid Intake .
Now the pressure is on, I smell 11's .

This is a form of ram-air to feed the motor, being in front of the radiator is a bit of a high pressure area, better and cooler than behind it anyway. Should be able to see a gain but NOT ON A DYNO as you have no dynamic air motion-----stick your hand out the window at 50 MPH to feel the air pressure "force".
I have been needing to actually measure the pressure gain, Idd try to get to doing that, though it will be only an inch or two of water column pressure.
First thought for me is the phrase " Bird Strike"

I'd be really worried about FODing the supercharger. For those non aviation types out there, Foreign Object Damage. At the speeds those lobes are moving in that housing, and the tight clearances inside these units, even something small would dent your wallet pretty thoroughly!
