SRT-6 Front bumper national back order
Re: SRT-6 Front bumper national back order
I'm having the same problem with getting my hood replaced. A couple of weeks ago someone backed up a truck into my hood in a parking lot, so it needs to be replaced. My shop told me I was the 52nd person on a nationwied backorder for a new hood! Who knows when I will get my hood?

Re: SRT-6 Front bumper national back order
A pickup truck backed into me at a red light last year (I just LOVE Florida drivers!). The body shop managed to repair the bumper, but one of the headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. I got a call the day before I was supposed to pick the car up, telling me that Chrysler sent what was clearly a USED headlight assembly. The body shop sent it back and made them send a new one; I wonder if they're so low on inventory that they resort to dirty tricks like that to fill orders (I know, never attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity... it could have been a mistake).

Re: SRT-6 Front bumper national back order
I have an SRT6 Roadster which had the rear window fall out. Convertible tops on back order for who knows how long. No ones making them. Luckily I found an interior shop that had one custom made in California. They had to send my top because no one makes the top hardware either. To make matters worse no warranty help. I'm out $1,900.
But at least I can drive my car. Looks real nice navy blue on SSB.

I know from first hand experience that aftermarket body panels are not the same as OEM but does anybody know someone that has used on of these or these guys:

Re: SRT-6 Front bumper national back order
Back in April when Karmann went "insolvent" I posted about my worries that this would happen. I was roundly pooh-poohed, but I have to wonder: Is this caused at all by Karmann's insolvency?
Maybe it'll all get sorted out if Karmann survives, or if Chrysler can get its hands on the tooling for these parts.

I would take your old bumper off you if when you get your new one as I just punched a hole in mine from a garage jack pointing into my car as I drove into the garage.
Is that an option for you if we can work out a deal?
Thanks

Re: SRT-6 Front bumper national back order
This seems to be a rather serious problem for my peace of mind. I was pretty sure that
there was a Federal law that requires automakers to stock parts for their cars for a 10
year period from the beginning of the model year. Is that no longer the case? And, if that
is (still) true, do we have any legal recourse if Chrysler cannot provide parts during this
10 year period? Would it even be worth it to seek legal relief?

Re: SRT-6 Front bumper national back order
Now remember who the new owner of Chrysler is...I stopped by the Chrysler Museum for a photo opt with James and others...seems the museum grounds has "National Park" signs all around it...the Feds waste no time...so does the Feds obey their own laws...not hardly...Karmann plant has all the stamping equipment...lets hope someone buys Karmann...I know from what I have read, there is interest, but no takers as of yet...I am keeping my eye out at my local junk yard...and will buy one if one comes available. They usually sell the drive train anyway...but, hoods, fenders, etc...I will purchase....
