....there are 4333 amg slk32 built worldwide.
So, our lovely and powerful srt6's have yet another thing going for them. They are more exclusive than the vaunted amg slk32. I own one of roughly 3000 produced and I love every square inch and every hp and every ft lb of torque it blasts out when I tweak the throttle. So what if my vin will not gain me access to some webpage.

I understand that if you own an SRT6 VIN'ed in 2007, you indeed possess a rare one-of-40 birds powered by the hand-built AMG engine.

simply putting amg wheels whether from the dealer or not doesnt make it an amg. this is my point exactly. only the clk55 is the amg in that m/b class of cars. while some came with a sport pkg ie: slk320 sport it had some amg pieces but was still a 320 not an amg 32
fellas do what you choose. im finished defending the amg label. we will not agree on this thread and to try to convince the group is a waste of time. so be well drive fast and remember i respect the car as it stands , a fast 2 seater well designed and very good looking whether its the roadster or the vert.

No SRT6s have 2007 VINs. There are a few 2006 VIN SRT6s that, I was told by Daimler Chrysler (which it was still called at the time), were 'test mules' that were not supposed to be sold to the public.
The only numbers we have received from Chrysler or Daimler Chrysler regarding the SRT6 production figures were:
2,016 SRT6 Coupes
928 SRT6 Roadsters
^Total Production
Okay, now lets get back to the topic at hand.
SRT SIX - I think the black emblem looks better, but I think no emblem looks best. Just MHO.

You are absolutely right on this RPM - I stand corrected.
It remains unconfirmed that fewer than a dozen SRT6's were VIN'ed as 2006, in special colors, reserved for further testing, promotion, reviews and advertising.
These are the rare birds I had in mind. Thanks for keeping me straight.
As far as emblems, I've got a discrete chrome 4X4 in the center of the rear bumper. Puzzles the hell out of people. They're actually curious about how it performs and how much it cost. Hook, line and sinker.

Pull the plastic engine cover and you'll see the AMG logo right on top of the engines Blower!
That sure the heck wasn't installed by a Chrysler employee.
There are far more AMG parts on the car than Chrysler!
Heck put Desoto on it if you like. maybe less clueless people would jump you for that one. Some parts houses have their after market parts mislabled because right in the book at Summit Racing it says Crossfire/AMG for one of the SRT aplications.
Anyone have a Desoto badge I could buy?
Mike

Also, SRT SIX, although I personally wouldn't put the AMG logos on my car, the satin black looks great.
Also, with all due respect to AMG, they are very good at engine building, but I am less impressed by their overall package. BMW's M division seems to beat them consistently in the handling category, and after swallowing up AMG, Mercedes has gradually diluted the earlier panache of the AMG logo by willingly selling individual AMG parts (wheels, ground effects, etc.) to non-AMG owners and letting dealers pass off these "AMG-style" cars.
While I wouldn't claim that my car is an AMG, I don't think it's something to aspire to, anyways. The AMG handling isn't world-renowned, the meaning of "AMG" has been watered down, and the rarity of a car doesn't necessarily match its quality. And like I said, I wouldn't want to call my car an AMG. It's better than that.
This is all my personal view, of course. I'm not going to defend the xF's interior, but my priorities focus on acceleration and handling. And no amount of badging will change those two things. Is the S600 (which is non-AMG) inferior to the S55 AMG, despite a higher original price point, an incredible turbocharged V12 engine, and better tuning opportunities (an ECU reprogram can take the S600 to 630hp instantly)? The name means nothing.
Re: Which looks better?
If being an AMG is something MORE than just the mechanical composition of the car, then it is something intangible.
1. Is it because AMG cars are rare? SRT6s are even more so.
I guess I don't see the value in Mercedes/AMG badging. I have all the same parts, plus a 80k/8year bumper to bumper warranty.
My SRT6 is not an AMG. It is something better.
and lastly someone finally admits that the srt-6 isnt a amg car. THANK YOU!!!

Re: Which looks better?
gee..glad I read this thread...wiki info, is Tom2112 fellas'....anyway, AMG, Karmann, I think a black background with a big chrome "B" on it.....no, its not for Bill....it is for B@st@rd, because that is what they are...no one wants to claim it...argument settled...got the grilles on SRT SIX...sick baby...they are nice...leaving my "C" logo on though...OK, back to your argument...OH< that's over isn't it....
Re: Which looks better?
An amazing 8 pages and 73 posts because of 3 letters. The mind boggles at the response if someone put a chrome GOD on their srt. Those threads go on and on.
I like the satin black for the sake of better handling, but I think the chrome would give a bigger HP gain.
Now if I can think of one more comment to make I can push my total to 200.....

Re: Which looks better?
After reading all the pages in this thread its clear that whether we put a AMG or a Bugatti badge on our Crossfires, that Chrysler took the AMG internals which are IDENTICAL to the SLK32 and put an absoutly KICK *** body that not only looks alot more modern but looks like nothing else on the road...as far as I'm concerned people wouldn't give a SLK32 a second look..heck i wouldn't be able to tell if it was a SLK200 kompressor from a first glance lol atleast crossfires dont have to deal with that problem!

I like Doc's idea of calling it the bast@rd. Maybe we can come up with our own bast@rd logo.
