Exclamation Camber issues

Hello All,

Need advise.... the strangest thing happened today when I went in to have my alignment checked. After waiting an hour I was told that the camber in the front was out 2.5 degress. My SRT6 has 21K on it and has foose speedster 19 in front 20 in rear. On top of that I have the Eibachs for an SRT6 on it.

After them telling me this situation is really bad ( which I know because I have been having inside driver side excessive wear) they said oh, you need different springs and a camber/caster kit of which I can get covered under your factory warranty??!!!

I am not one to argue when I am told its covered but honestly I did not know how this could be. My question is what do you think they are going to do to the car? What springs could they possibly be putting on? He said it was a kit, but I need more details. Anyone know what specific questions I should ask?

Thank you,

I don't see how there would be a problem with the springs as there is a ton of people running them. Sounds to me that the car was lowered without using a camber kit. All you should need is camber kits now (front & back).

I called back and they want to change the springs to factory and put in camber kit, not what I want. They said the front is out 2.5 degress. Will a camber kit assist? I want to correct th problem but not remove the Eibach Pro Kit springs.

Thank you for posting this, it will certainly help. I still am curious as to why they said it would be covered under the factory warranty?? And yes you are correct when I lowered it I did nt use a camber kit, is this a must have to prevent this tire wearing issue?

My 04 had its camber out of wack, I had the factory camber kits installed an it went back to normal. As I recall the kit was $55 and the labor to put it in was $80, which was cheeper than a set of front tires.

True, seems as though this is the way to go. Curious did you have factory springs?

Everybody I know that has lowered their cars with the Eibach kit have had to use the KMAC camber kit in the back. I don't believe with the Eiabch kit that the front needed anything. I would get the KMAC kit for the rear and th MB camber bolts for the front if I were you.

Is the rear adjustable without the camber kit?

Nope - you can only adjust rear caster.

Well, that sucks. I can see that I need to have some sort of adjustment as I can see the rear squatting out.

Do you feel the dealership is the best suited for something like this?

Why can't he use the Factory camber bolt kits front and back and sve about $500.00 over the Kmac sets. Have I just missed something here?

Indeed!

The OEM front camber adjustment is limited in the amount of camber angle it can provide. Once you lower your ride; this is insufficient to bring alignment into tolerance and the use of the MB/Chrysler eccentric bolt kit is required to add the extra adjustment.

There is no rear OEM camber adjustment. The K-MAC kit replaces the non-adjustable rear swing-arm bushings with an adjustable bushing to for rear wheel camber alignment.

They both work great....

my camber alignment is not staying put, and i have the front and rear KMAC kit. anyone know why this is happening? we have really crappy roads here, but i wouldn't think that alone would cause this. i'm going to go to the benz dealership to get my alignment done next time... thoughts?

Depending on your location you may have a alignment "specialist" in your town. I know we have two seperate shops here that do all the high end, race and custom cars in the area. They did wonders for my Audi. They were expensive but they are known as the absolute best.
Call a couple of true speed shops. Or contact someone through a local racing club. It may be worth your extra effort.

I lowered mine by cutting one coil both front and rear and my rears wear perfectly. NO camber kit. The fronts, however are a different situation. I also have extreme inner tire wear and will have to replace the front tires soon. It seems too extreme to be just from lowering. I'll install the camber bolts and see how it goes.
