Question Larger K&N Filter?

I am trying to decide if I should upgrade my new NW CAI with the new larger filter.

Is it worth the extra $40 bucks?

Has anyone seen a difference over the regular filter?

Thanks,
Mike

Paid 65.00 and change for larger k&n filter at autozone. Worth it, do not know, but should allow more filtered air, that is a good thing.

I doubt it would dyno any more HP.

I agree. At this point you have reached diminishing returns. Once you reach a certaing amount of airflow any more provides very little increased power. I would say it wouldn't really be worth it...but then again, I'd wait for an answer from NeedsWings before making a final decision. TVT or anyone from LET could probably answer from a dyno perspective also.

I agree the dyno won't show anymore than showing the SL55 intake is equal to the NW. It's not but a dyno will say it is. If your not counting tenths of a second than you won't feel the difference. If were like me stuck at 12.02 and want to get that 11.99 or better than everybit counts. It all depends on what your after.

If I were stuck at 12.02 and wanted that 11.99 I would remove the filter

Have one of those too. A buddy made a scoop for his and gave me one too. Haven't tested it, but he dropped 3 tenths on back to back passes. I'm just not ready to run without a filter even if it's for only one pass. Some of you wanting to hit the 11's may.

All depends on the cost of money. A good choice would depend on the difference in airflow ratings of the two filter.

If the pressure drop is the same between the two, how much additional air flow will you get? Could you sell the first filter and recoop the price some?

You know me, I work on the margin of a few percent here and there, they all add up. Like the stock market here 25% there 11%, pretty much you get some real results, i.e. money. Heck my Ford went up from 1.80$, and now today its 4.25$.

I have used the bigger filter design on a 4 barrel 440, and got better, not sure that I could define better though.

BTW, If your IRA is sinking, watch Citigroup, AIG, and Bank of america stock this week...........Their time is now.
