I test drove them back to back, except the SRT-6 was a Coupe. I bought the SRT-6 without much deliberation. The limited is a very nice car with plenty of pep, sweet looks, and a great ride. The SRT-6 is like a carnival ride on PCP; so fast you're pretty sure you could die at any moment, but stable enough that you get the feeling you're not going to.

If you're in it for the cruising, go with the Limited; softer ride, better gas mileage. If you enjoy going fast, go with the SRT-6; speed, handling, perma-grin

PhillySRT hit the nail on the head. Drive them both. The SRT6 is all about power and speed. The n/a is comfortable, better gas mileage, and covered under warranty -- just not sure who's lifetime, yours or Chrysler's. You did not mention whether both are autosticks. If that's the case, go with the SRT6. If the n/a is a MT6, they are a lot of fun to drive.

What color is the SRT6? I am missing a graphite gray roadster SRT6 in my collection.

why don't you just pop for that one in knoxville with 250 miles on it?

I'd say if you must have a roadster, you can find an SRT-6 with much less miles for the same money. Yes, the SRT-6 is worth it. Would you rather have a rare, top of the line version of the Xfire that can whip just about any car on the street or one that is more common and can get whipped by mustangs, s-2000s and G37s? I say blow off the roadster and pick up a nice very low milage (like under 12k) SRT-6 coupe for about the same money.

Ok so I test drove an 05 manual roadster for about 15K and an SRT coupe for about 20K.
I don't really think the roadster lost anything from the srt but it may have been the roadster and the trill of the stick (which I am not great with yet btw).
I guess I've always know I needed the srt roadster, but that just makes life so freaking difficult.
I need to finance it, and I need payments about $300 a month since I'm pretty fresh outta grad school and into my career, and my wife is a teacher and we just bought a new house. But I've driven the same car for the past NINE years. I bought it with 0 miles on it, piad it off in three years like a good boy should, and drove it into the ground. So now it is time for me to get something I enjoy driving again.

The closest srt roadster I can find is about 400 miles away, they all run 18K-23K.
I like black and grey so the best option looks like a black one in AL for like 17999 with 50K miles, what are the odds of him taking a 15K offer, 2.5K down, and letting them finance for 4 years at 8/9/10% or whatever that is?
That way he breaks even from the financing but I don't have to come up with $17K.

I appritiate all your opinions, except for the people that can't take a joke :P or that type like they belong in a civic tuner forum.

Did you put the SRT in 1 or was the test drive in D? That makes a world of difference. They are for a specialized buyer who's willing to pay near $20k with TTL for a car that is 4 years old. Warranties are gone or extended, so you will have the upper hand. They are never where you want them at, but if time is on your side you will eventually win. Be ready to walk away and wait for the next one.

I paid $26k with 216 miles on mine in Sept 07 and still feel good about that price. 30% price drop was unpredictable but expected with an AMG. At least it's not 50% plus like the CLK Black Series. One is for sale for $77k and only a year ago for $200k.

Pretty sure I used D, though now that I think about it I may have been in "W" which may have affected it too, it went well, but shift 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 did not put me in the back of the seat and blow the air in my face like the manual roadster did. Like I said though, they are apples and oranges at that point.
The only times I really got to open the SRT up though was 0 to 70mph merging on an interstate on ramp.

I'm hoping I have the upper hand too, 50K miles, no nav, black as opposed to a designer color, and they have had it since November, not prime convertible time I know, but it is still the gulf coast. And I'm sorry, but 17-20K is SLK32 AMG territory too, pretentious while still looking plain I know, but power hard top ftw really, hopefully the dealer will see it my way, also even srt bids on ebay have not really gone over $13K for as far back as the completed auctions go, none have sold. I'mma try calling them tommorrow or Monday.

i got my payment at around 253 and get around 6 % int.

i have a limited 08 coupe 6mt. i think auto would have been very boring and if you want speed and auto then srt 6 is only option. save the money on the roadster and pick your car payment. you have to give one up i am about to graduate from undergrad and wanted something with a warranty and low payment yet fun to drive. There are mods you can do down the road for power, brakes and suspension that will out handle other cars. This car has potential to have a v8 drop in a supercharger bolt on to get you power once you do better down the road in your career.

You'll get them to come down. Be sure to put in S, and 1. You'll know it's in 1 because it won't shift unless you get to the redline. Don't be afraid to leave it in gear and let it shift for you. Then you'll feel the difference. Just remember in D it gets almost equal gas mileage as the limited 6 spd. Remember walking away puts you in the drivers seat. They wanted $36k for mine, and I walked. They called 2 weeks later and took the $26k I offered.

Thanks for the hint, I did not know that 1 was the preferred setting for the stick, I just put it in D and let it do the driving, but I'll try leaving it in 1 next time.
I do feel silly for not knowing what W and S were until after I did the drives, but the salesman didn't help much, despite 1/4th the cars (excluding vans and trucks) on his lot being crossfires he kept on calling it a "Straight 8" or "SRT-8," they also did not know how to put the top down in the roadsters. They certainly could not have upsold a buyer that did not already want an srt.

The cars also looked like they had not washed them since they got them from auction on Jan 1. (though as I drove them they all became magically detailed, A for effort) This is also probably the only 5 star chrysler dealer in the state I think, all the cars were certified though. I would buy a roadster from them though if they had an srt, but no dice I guess.
