1st Mod. for the SRT
1st Mod. for the SRT
I have had the SRT for about 3 weeks now and am ready to make the 1st. mod.
I have researched CAI kits extensively but I still have a few questions before I make a purchase.
I have read all of the positive feedback on the Needswings intake and was leaning towards it until I saw the kit that was being offered for $275 with polished tubes. This kit looks very similar to the Needswings kit but is selling for $175 cheaper. I am all for saving money; does any one have experience with the cheaper intake? Will it create the same power gains as the Needswings version? also I really like the mercedes airboxes that a lot of the NA cars are running, I searched the SRT forum for something similar for the SRT. I found a lot of discussion on the sl55 kit but I could never find a picture with the kit and the Mercedes box on the SRT.
Has anyone done this? Any feedback would be appreciated I know you guys must be sick of talking about intakes I just want to make sure that I make a totally informed decision.
Thanks.

Re: 1st Mod. for the SRT
You'll love the power and hearing the SC whine with the NW CAI.
They are discussing a possible group buy here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=32385

Re: 1st Mod. for the SRT
You will get opinions that the SL55 and the needswings intake yield the same dyno numbers. That is true because the car is not moving on the dyno. However when your actually driving in real life that's when the needswings intake makes your car come to life. It's the only true Cold Air Intake available that is proven and with a warranty. The same will tell you the supercharger pulley is comparable to the asp 178mm crank pulley but easier to install. I'll point out that no one has run 11's with a SL55 intake or a SC pulley. Till that happens they are not comparable and only dynosaur data.

If money is the issue, you can't go wrong with the $275 shipped....If you can get in on a group buy for a decent price, NW is the answer. Either way, I'm sure the HP is similar. Once you open up the intake no matter what one you use, a huge can will be had. I have a cheapo $150 unit from Autozone and I'm very happy with it. Good luck!

IMO - NeedsWings.
Rob did plenty of research and testing before development and installation.
I have one on mine. The engine breathes so much easier now, the whine is a great thing to hear, and it will give you noticeable results in power.
Rob is a stand-up guy too, which always helps.

Needswings CAI!!!! Plus the money you give to Rob will be spent on the R&D of upcoming mods for our cars. Your investing in our performance future. You could save some money on an immitator, but you won't be investing in our future modifications. I've never gotten better customer service and support than I have recieved from Rob at Needswings.
Re: 1st Mod. for the SRT
Needwings, once again, like the other posters above, not to take anything away from the other CAI's out there.
In addition to proven results, Rob is a breeze to deal with not to mention you get the complete install instructions on CD. Even complete car dolts can't screw up the install if they can follow instructions & know what the heck tools are used for.
