Default Best tires for traction?

I was curious to know what street tires you guys use for superior traction. I find it all too easy to get wheel spin from the lights if i push it too far. I thought i was great at launching this car with minimal wheel spin but after witnessing my friends car from the line in comparison my perception and the truth are very different!

the best tires for traction would be racing slicks.

Hoosiers hands down the best for drag racing!, but I like my 19's and I like to auto-x, so I just ordered a set of Nitto NT05. These are hot off the press and have rave reviews from the people who were lucky enough to be test pilots. The 1/4 mile record holding C63AMG ran an 11.5@120 with a 1.7 60ft on a set of 275/35/18 in these. My fronts just arrived today and the rears will be her by thursday. I'll soon see if they live up to the hype. Just by running my hand on these fronts they feel pretty grippy. Maybe I'll have my car back together in a couple weeks so I can test them out. I'm currently prepping it for a 1/4 mile event at the end of the month.

275/40/17 Hossier DOT Radial= $190 per tire

275/30/19 or 275/35/19 Nitto NT05=$250 per tire

265/35/19 PZero=$535 per tire
yikes! For $500+ per tire they better make your car stick like an F1 car.

I love my PS2's. WOT from light, the car just sits and goes.

My tires can't compete with Hoosiers or Nitto's (allthough unfortunately they have to at autocross events) but for sticking well on the street in wet or dry conditions, my Goodyear GS D3's work really well.

Don't forget the Falken AZenis RT-615 tires for the street. They have been proven to compete with the best of 'em out there. But I do love my stock PS2's.

Distantpulse pulled a 1.7 on standard Toyo street tires.

It's very possible but all the right conditions must be there.

1) Power is a must have, so mod up.

2) Well race prepped track with awesome DA

3) Driving Skills for perfect launch

Summary not the tires, it's the driver.

If you are on the street and consider it a proper launch to rev up your car and pop the clutch then nothing short of slicks are going to help you. lol

Bang for the buck for all around street use, and wet traction (dailydriven) is the Nankang NSII. I have went through a set, and have another set on order. At $330 a pair shipped, hands down the best all around and the price you cant beat. My car hooks at 45mph with about 480whp on the juice and no wheel spin!!!

Of coarse at the track, slicks. True slicks, nothing better!

Of coarse road racing, Hoosier road tires!

That is my take on the situation

Nitto 555R2.................drag radials that were redesigned with stiffer sidewall for road course driving and last (supposedly) 15k miles on the street.
