Default Orlando Track Rental 3/3/09

Hey guys and gals. A MB member asked if I could post this here. As some of you know -DA is common at this track. Then a private track day. Some records could be shattered.

http://www.mbworld.org/forums/w211-a...-3-3-09-a.html

Since MIR was cancelled I am doing a track rental at Orlando Speedworld next Tuesday March 3rd.

If you are interested in joining us let me know. Its $215 per car and you have all day. The best part is Monday night's forecast is 37 degrees which means it will be cold Tuesday morning with a high only in the 60's. There's a zero chance of rain. Sunny and cold in Florida doesn't happen much.

So far we have an E55 that runs low 11's along with my C63.
There will also be an 08 Viper with nitrous making its maiden voyage

Fast times out there today, too bad I didn't live closer. I wonder what the DA was?

With how cool it is right now on the east coast it must have been negative DA.

Funday Sunday this weekend? I thought NHRA Florida Nationals are this weekend.
I plan on going tonight. Hopefully the track prep will be pretty good as they just had the Fun Ford Weekend.

You're right Chuck! I guess I'll have to head out the following Friday since I'll have to let my car re-adapt to the newer tune. By the way, I heard someone in Florida has the LET software package, so we can get a re-tune anytime without mailing it in!

There's no adjusting to the new tune. Maybe to air conditions, in one pass your ecu will get all the readings it needs. With all my tunes I drive 5 miles to the track and put down the numbers. The 500 mile adjusting theory is for your improved gas mileage, not going down the track. If you have gave it some good runs just driving around then your good to go. Datalog just to make sure.

I can tell you from experience when I have trailered my car to other states, it cranks for a while and within 5 minutes its warmed up and adjusted to the air(DA).

So where is Jason from? Is he one of the guys that works at Ragetek? I'm pretty sure that is the name that Jerry gave me about the Florida tunes... Thanks!

Tonight ws a great night to be at Orlando Speedworld. The track was prepped GREAT. They were spraying the track when I got there around 6:15. The DA varied but was -308 and -598 according to dragtimes for my two new personal best:

run 1
DA: -308
60' 1.770
1/8 ET: 7.847
1/8 MPH: 89.65
1/4 ET: 12.180
1/4 MPH: 111.88

run2
DA: -598
60' 1.782
1/8 ET: 7.802
1/8 MPH: 90.54
1/4 ET: 12.114
1/4 MPH: 113.29

My best before these was a 12.31@111. You can see by my 60' times I took advantage of the situation.

Great runs and awesome weather. Thanks for getting the DA info. Was your 12.31 around 100' positive DA? Usually a 500' DA decrease is good for 1.5-2.0 tenths off your time.

Your run 1 was actually your best run indicator. Run 2 actually left some thousandths on the track. Your 60' was a hair slower because of minute tire spin or maybe just not launching the same, and you mph was higher. That was probably a 12.09 run or slightly better. Both runs show your driving skills are superb. Congrats.

The DA for my 12.31 time was +602, made on Feb 8, a Funday Sunday at OSW. Here's the info from that run:

60' 1.818
1/8 ET: 7.953
1/8 MPH: 88.81
1/4 ET: 12.319
1/4 MPH: 111.21

Thanks cruzinquick, I go to the track as often as I can. These 2 runs shocked the crap out of me! I usually stage at around 1500 RPM and roll into the throttle. If I don't launch that way, I get massive tire spin. Last night, since I saw that the track was prepped, I figured I try what others have posted here... stage around 1600-1700 and floor it. That's what got me the 1.7x 60's.

As for my trap speed, I'm rather consistently running at 111 MPH, regardless of my ET. I did have one good night in January where I was hitting 112 for every run, with one run at 113 with ET's between 12.4x and 12.6x and 2.0 60's.

Until last night, I've been a little bummed out about my ETs. Others have been running 12.2's with the same mods I have. I've been chasing that ET since I got my LET tune in January, but the best I could manage were 12.3's. Goes to show that track prep is king!

A BIG congrats to you Chuck! I wish I was there with the track and DA being what we always wanted. Your 1/8th mile has topped my best and so was that 12.114...The only thing I came out on top was the 114's. And to think your exhaust is entirely stock along with the Goodyear street tires which makes it very impressive indeed! If you were to have the exact same conditions with DR's and modded exhaust, you definitely would have broken into the 11's, and without any cooling mods which is also my goal.
