Default My dealer can't figure this out. Can you?

Driving along at 70+ and suddenly no power. THe throttle just sinks to the floor without resistance. I pull over, restart the car and it idles very rough and limps along at abut 3 mph. After ten minutes (with engine off) I restart and she's good as new. Problem does not happen until a week or two later - in all kinds of weather. Dealer changed throttle body - did not help. Checked tranny (which had a slow leak) replaces plug. Did not help. Now on my third visit they recommend replacing the pedal assembly ($750) I asked them to check the intercooler, pump etc.. THey claim they did and all is working fine. What woudl the pedal assembly have to do with the "limp"mode rough idle after I retsart the car? I have feeling I'm blowing $750 in the wrong direction. Any ideas? I have told the mechanice evertything I found on this site regarding similiar situations. Any thoughts?
By the way, I removed my sprint booster at the first sign of this "no throttle" probelm happening. Did not make a difference.

Sounds like a good time to spring for an extended warranty.
Chrysler MaxCare 7/70 w/$100 deductable was $1480 for mine.
I think you can add it on within 12 months of the expiration of the original factory warranty.

The closest to your prob I found with a quick search was this:

Have them replace the ic pump wether under waranty or if you have to buy a johnson pump. Even if they say its fine for $150 or so its well worth eliminating this variable that WILL go out sooner or later.

Check the AIT sensor its in the y pipe afer the intercooler, if it pops out the car will loose power and run rough.

Id vote for the AIT, may need cleaning or at least checking, PLEASE READ THE CODES to see if there are any.Woody

sounds exactly like what happened to me! gave the car a 'throttle-pedal failure' code. BUT.... it wasn't the throttle pedal, it was a faulty sprint booster.

what i have heard, is the sensor on the throttle pedal gets dirty and causes problems. PM woody 'waldig' because he has successfully cleaned and fixed his on his own.

doesn't sound like an IC pump failure, although you should replace it anyways.....

a new throttle pedal will cost you $250 for the part alone, so at least try cleaning up your existing unit.

this is EXACTLY what happened to me, so if the sprint booster removal didn't change it, then it's the AIT or throttle pedal.

Hey Guys thanks for the quick response. Jeff, I have the Added Care Plus extended warranty and the pedal assembly is supposedly not covered (throttle body was). Woody and 240M3SRT, they say they checked the codes and nothing popped up that would lead them to a solution. J-FIre, I removed the sprint booster and this problem continued. I installed the Johnson pump months ago - problem continued. One thing I did not point out to them was AIT in Y pipe. I'll give them a call.... Thanks again. Like the Verizon commercial where each customer has thousands of people backing him up wherever he goes, this forum is wonderful.

Will they let you upgrade to MaxCare?

This is very simple and free but certainly you have already tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery by now, right?
