Re: Anyone Else Have to keep Buying Rear Tires
I got 17K miles out of my rear PS2's. Front's are still in excellent shape. They weren't bald but compound hard and slick. I was going 40 on freeway entry ramp, hit the warp speed button and nothing. Tires broke loose, and felt like I was standing still.

Go to www.K-MAC.com and look for an eccentric bushing kit for the car. i noticed scuffing at 2000 miles and put it on an alignment rack. The car comes with bushings that can't be adjusted probably for ease in assembly and lower cost. I changed out the front and rear to the neoprene eccentric bushings and then I was able to dial in the settings.

Well the latest set I tried out the Kumho Exta (don't remember how that was spelt)
are Tijuana slicks after only 3,500. I have to stop with the engine modifications. Some may say stop with the "peddle to the Metal" but it is WAY to much fun.
Plus I have to decide to get my top end run for the record (190+ mph) out of the way so I can go back to z rated tires and save a little cash

Re: Anyone Else Have to keep Buying Rear Tires
I've put 23,000 miles on my car so far, and am on my 3rd set of rears, 2nd set of fronts. I replaced the stock conti's on the rear after putting on an intake and only 6,000 miles. Pieces of $hit... After the death of those tires, I put Conti SportContact3's on the rear. Went with those bc the stock fronts were fine ( I thought) and they got really good ratings on TireRack reviews (Dirty Liars). Those "max-performance summer tires" performed like a crippled racehorse.
The tread on the 2nd set of contis lasted all of 10,000 miles and gave little to no grip. Figured you could have one or the other right? Well no, with Continentals you get neither. PS, my Conti front tires were simultaneously dry rotting; Just loved those tires... Will never buy from them again.
Put my fat Vredesteins on front and rear about 7,000 miles ago and OH MY GOD! They actually hold the road like a beast. And you know what, most of ( about 2/3 ) of the tread is still there.
If you're looking for good gripping and wearing tires, just stay away from Contis. I don't have experience with the other brands that members have been happy with, but the Vredesteins can't be beaten in my opinion.
Maybe the people on TireRack who loved the Continentals so much drove cars like the Smart ForTwo, Nissan Versa, or similar "huge" amounts of power...

Re: Anyone Else Have to keep Buying Rear Tires
I find i can get alot of wheel spin from the lights, im not the best driver i must admit
Does anyone have any suggestions what tyres to go with for minimal wheel spin. Im getting ended by my mates 135i from the lights every time at the moment. From a roll in stock form im getting one car on him to 120.
Maybe my best bet is to learn how to launch huh? any tips?
