Default Tranny upgrade-"SLR" 5 speed auto

I've been trying to find a way to get the 5 speed SRT6 tranny to shift faster both up and down. The Mercedes supercar SLR still uses the Merc 5 speed auto, all be it's greatly modified.
I want the ask the Crossfire SRT6 nation out there if the PCM/transmission computers on the SLR can be copied and or adapted to our beloved SRT6's?

Second option: would the tranny controller or PCM from a SRT LX car improve shift speeds if in fact it does shift faster in the first place. When I have driven those cars the Auto-Stick does appear to shift faster.

Second option: would the tranny controller or PCM of a SRT LX car be compatible on the SRT6 Crossfire and will it improve shift speeds. When I have driven these cars it seems to shift faster to me.

1.Buy another SRT-6
2. Find guy with tranny
3. Offer to trade SRT-6 for tranny
4. Enjoy a smidgen better performance for a price of a car.

Hey Bullseye,

I do appreciate your input but I'm trying to find someone who has experience with all of the Mopar and Mercedes shared technologies.

When you consider all of the shared and modified components between Mopar LX and Mercedes "C", "E" & "SLK" vehicles there are a lot engineering improvements on identical parts.

I own a Chrysler dealership and this SRT6 is destined to be a project car for me personally but as you are no doubt aware nothing is cheap on these cars and I'm just trying to eliminate unnecessary part orders before my shop tackles the modifications.

We all know if it were a Detroit Mopar it would be a piece of cake so the challenge of this project is a big part of the allure for me. Ultimately it's about creating a better SRT6 Crossfire.

I still really don't think all the time and money vested would be worth it. Trans does a good job at holding gear through turns, downshifts are decent, and same with upshifts. If you want the shifting performance of PDK, don't try and make it happen on a platform so old when it first came out I was still too young to drive, buy a Porsche.

As far as these cars not being cheap....I disagree, I find the oil changes to be quite reasonable.

i think i'm going to buy the valve-body upgrade for quicker shifts in the next 2 weeks or so.... i will keep you all posted on whether it's worth the $700!!!! it worked sweet on my last few cars, shouldn't disappoint on an SRT

I think our tranny's are great for what they do and good enough to boogie down the 1/4 track in incredible times. If you don't have a sprint booster, get one of those to help it along and save some money. Why mess with perfection. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Didnt you get a stall converter installed, how did it end up doing? Id like to see what both the stall converter and the valve body together do for you.

Ive been the exhaust guinea pig...you should be the tranny guinea pig.
