Default One less SRT6 out there...

RIP #39239... declared totalled today. My wife was hit just about square on the passenger rear axle @ 25-30mph by big Chevy 2500 truck w/brush guard & winch. She took a bit of a thrashing but is ok, the car didn't quite make it. Passenger door airbag deployed and the right rear quarter panel all around the fuel filler destroyed. She already has her eyes on that 2006 srt6 for sell, if it was only black....

Sure hate to see these cars get wrecked. Glad that no one got hurt.

As far as a black SRT for sale, Brazilian177 has been trying to sell his since July. Price has come down to an unbelievable $16,999.

Did I mention it's BLACK?

Considering how few of our cars are out there, buying the car back for 10% (is that still the number?) would be a good investment. All the mods, good body panels, a new motor in the box is 17K, and with Mopar going **** up who knows what parts will be available in 5 years. If you have a place to store it and part it out over time you could get what a 20K mile SRT is going for now. ps. Glad the wife's OK !

Thumbs up Re: One less SRT6 out there...

Positivley great that it was the pass door. Too many have head injurys from hitting the glass, its only 3" from you head ---driver door window. Had several friends get it that way.

Her stars were in alignment for sure, glad it was just a car...
If you get the car back for parts let us know, I am still trying to do the design on a hood with scoops for the SRTs

Like everyone else said, glad she's ok. It really says something about a car when you buy one, it gets totaled, then immediately look for another. I did the same thing, and the second one is better than the 1st!

Thanks guys for the kind words, yes we are just glad she's ok too. She loved that car so much she didn't want me to post the crash pics...lol! She wants another srt with the same or less miles ~17k miles. If that 2006 srt6 isn't sold before insurance pays out we'll probably be making a trip to see it. She was looking at slk55 amg's too but I don't think we'll be going that way when the srt is 15k cheaper and a new srt8 challenger would be 20k more.

Yes, you vultures are on the prowl!!!!

LOL...I already have interest in the engine/transmission, rear spoiler, and hood. If they will sell the for 10% of the value (they said a little above $20k but we are talking numbers tomorrow), then I'll personally buy it and part it out/keep it for a parts car and have. That would be so worth it! I'll let you guys know if it happens or if they want more than that.

Thanks again!

SRTshadow, glad your wife is OK. Funny thing about the Crossfires, the car is like nothing else and any other car will not do. Good luck getting the 06. That would be even better.

Find out if you can buy the wreck back from the insurance company, tell them they are not giving you enough money in the settlement and you would like the wreck thrown in. Then Haggle a price that lets you make money on the parts. I did this to a Mustang and came out in front by a lot of $$. The engine has to be worth at least $3,500 on a bad day. think about it if you have the time, space and inclination. Even a buddy might like it to strip for parts, if you try and buy used parts you will find out how much that wreck is worth.
This forum is a good place to sell parts. Think about it.
At least get the mods off, you will not get a penny for them.

I agree with hundred80 ! Try to buy the car back from the insurance company. Parts will begin to get scarce and out rageously expensive after Chrysler is done with their committment to parts supply and I don't think aftermarket vendors will enthusiasticly jump to pick up the mantle. MB will most always be a supplier for chassis and drivetrain.

Glad your wife is ok and hope you find another SRT.
Stogey your point brings up a question for me. Wonder what will happen with insurance rates on these cars? One of the components in our rates is the cost of repairing and if that goes through the roof I bet we start seeing rates go up. I thought there was "something" that said that manufacturers had to provide parts for cars for 10 years? Am I imagining this?

If parts get to pricey the insurance companys will scrap the cars with less and less damage done to them. They base their actions on the value of the car and the cost to repair it. If the car is worth $10,000 and it costs $10,100 to fix, say goodbye to it. It may be your pride and joy, but to them it is a pile of scrap metal, to be dealt with as cheaply as possible, thats just business.
