Default HELP Mods related

My SRT-6 is stock at the moment and im wanting to add some power to it, i dont want to get crazy speeds at this stage yet! I just want to know what is my best option. My idea or requirement is more along the lines of being able to without question notice extra power/pull low/mid end. I have a 3 year warranty im guessing any mod will throw that out the window right?

Needswings intake should do the trick. www.needswings.com Depending where your at elevation wise, that will get you in the 12's.

I agree on the Needswings CAI first mod.Definitely makes a big improvement in power and sound.. If worried about warr. problems it can be changed back to stock in less than an hour.

Code3 pulley would give you some low-mid power as your supercharger builds faster, Cold air intake would increase power across the range but it really shines at the higher RPM's as it opens up some bottle necks in the current intake.

My vote code 3 supercharger pulley it fits your request perfectly. looks stock, stupid easy to install.

1. NeedsWings Intake

2. Code 3 or ASP 178mm Pulley

3. InMotion Custom Tune

4. Johnson Intercooler Pump (for reliability)

That setup should put you in the LOW 12s on the 1/4 mile and it will not compromise any daily reliability or drivability. So, for about $1600 if you do the labor( very Easy stuff ), you'll have a car that runs better than most supercars, gets decent mileage and is daily driver comfortable and reliable.

Agree with the CAI (cold air intake) and the Code 3 pulley as good starts.
My signature below lists the steps and the order that I have taken so far. All of them reversible in case of warranty work.
Careful! Once you start modding it's hard to stop!

Mods will void a warranty if they aren't reversible... Remember, the dealer is allowed to void your warranty if they want to. Do not believe the hype about the laws. A law isn't a law unless you hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit to enforce it. So if you're really worried about warranty then only do mods that are reversible.

For myself, I've done the Code3 pulley and needswings intake. These are very fast installs and very fast reversals, and provide quite a different driving experience. It changes the whole car.

Also, a sprintbooster is good too. It changes the throttle signals and will help a mild/sissy driver (like me) electronically turn into a much more aggressive driver.

I didnt pick simple mods to protect warranty though, I'm almost out of warranty anyways, I just picked them because they're effective, fast and I'm not interested in constantly working on the srt-6 like I've done with past cars.

Thanks guys at this stage im leaning towards getting a Needswings intake as most of you seem to have this, it seems easy enough and the dynos seem great! What do you think of BDJ's Racing intake as i read on another thread its pretty good as well. To go for a normal service would i have to take the aftermarket intake out or only when i get a problem to claim on warranty do i remove it?

How can you reverse your intake mod?

Only if they can prove the modification you did caused the failure.

Like I said, they don't have to prove anything unless you take them to court. Unless an owner pursues it to court, then a dealership can and will say the mod voids your warranty. The SEMA thing is correct, but only once you have it legally enforced...

Like just about what everyone has said.... A short ram intake, Code-3 Pulley, LET tune, deleted rear cats and Nitto drag radials gave me a 12.1 @114 mph. Got all the mods during the sales and saved me some money. So for the little amount of mods I've done, the car really hauls butt now! Next on the agenda (Spring) will be some cooling mods such as Code-3 phenolic spacers, johnson pump, heat exchanger and modified thermostat.

I have a couple more questions. 1- do you guys find driving in auto faster than if u choose to use tiptronic? and how best to use tiptronic? Do you go as close to redline in each gear? Whats the best way to use tiptronic? Finaly being that i have a new engine id imagine once broken in its going to be faster you all agree to that but what kind of difference are we talking about? For me to get an idea lets say i had my brand new engine going in a straight line to 60mph then say after its broken in that same car going to 60mph. Would the difference be as signicant as say 1car length? less more? Thanks in advance you have all been really helpful!

Using the autostick is wonderfully simple. Put it in first. stomp on the gas and HOLD ON! The car will run every gear right up to red line and then shift. If you are crusing you just down shift a gear or two and get on it. The transmission will not let you hurt it. If you try to shift to something that will over rev it will not do it. It will pick the safe gear and take off.

I just went over 7K on my SSB and it is a noticable change. The car feels stronger and quicker. Cant quantify the change very well. The best I can say is that when I got the Aero with 22K miles on it, I noticed that it was much quicker on take offs and at speed acceleration than the SSB which was new. I went so far as to pulling the panel off next to the gas pedal and checking to see if it had a Sprint Booster installed.

Have fun with your new car and be safe.

I spent a year and a half in NW Cape at the US Navy base back in '68-'69. I wish I had the Crossfire back then. Lots of empty roads. But too many dang 'roo's. I was driving a Holden that looked much like a '57 Chevy.

Thanks MikeR i was unsure whether it would shift for me, the engine gets real loud and i get the feeling its going to explode! I will now have to test that out. Its also great to know i can expect alot more from the car once i get more miles on the clock, really seems like a big difference from your explanation.

I notice this car has a massive pull if you give it some then lay off, the revs stay high then you put your foot down. All i do is tap the accelerator and she jerks forward so aggresively, scarily fast! It is addictive! I see you have 2 SRT-6 your a real enthusiast.

What is an SSB? Also i was curious why theres no 5th gear with you use the auto stick, i can go from 1-4 then after that it goes back into drive.

I haven't had to use the tip yet, although I've not been to the strip yet, either. Plenty of surprised Mustangs, a couple of Evo's, two STI's, Bimmer M3 and M Roadster, and others found out exactly how fast an SRT 6 actually is. HAHAHA
