I'm going to consider all options, but there is no guarantee that a $20 bearing will last longer than a $14 one.
Bearings will make noise and fail. Would a once a year replacement be too much?
If not, then I can get them ordered today.

I am expecting a call back (sometime today) on a bearing spec. Not sure what the results will be but......

Call a bearing specialist the only way to get a bearing that will handle 20k plus, and it is sealed is to go to a smaller bearing. Like I said call a bearing specialty company not your neighborhood parts house. By the way acording to the book published for bearing limits the bearing that is already in our pullies is a 17,000 rpm bearing not a 15 as someone has already posted. This means it can maintain a 17,000 rpm for extended times but this doesn't mean it won't go to pieces if run to 18,498 even for a very short time.
Re: !!! LET Motorsports Pulley Failure !!!
Would going to a smaller bearing to handle the 20k mean having to use a smaller or bigger diameter pulley? I would rather buy a longer or shorter belt and know the pulley won't fail if I it exceeds 15 or 17k. If from that point I still have to change it every year, thats no prob.
Re: !!! LET Motorsports Pulley Failure !!!
I didn't bother to read through the whole thread(skimmed a few pages).................but I do have 185 pullies and my idler bearing just started making nice noises today. Now I'm scared to drive the damn thing let alone race it this upcoming Friday night.
How far away from the solution are we now???

Thanks for the info.......................here's an interesting thread I just found on MBforums about a stock pulley failure/solution.
Is there a specific size for the bearing or is "6303" the part number/size?

It must be a small industry as I have been to Vato Zone, Pimp Boys and surfed the Internets to no avail. I cannot find anybody that knows what they are let alone sells them. The only thing I've been able to find via google is several Japanese/European sites............one that sells them for 3.68Euros. LOL
Anybody happen to have one lying around or know where I can get one by THIS Friday??

I’ve used Gates’ #38028 (76mm) and #38063 (70mm) successfully on mine to fiddle with its belt tension.
Napa typically stocks them, or can source one for you pronto.
Pages 32-33 in their catalog.
Re: !!! LET Motorsports Pulley Failure !!!
I just got a quote for the bracket that you guys have designed. My price is $10 each, per the drawing that was sent. This would be non anodized aluminum. I've asked this question to them to make sure, but I think it will be billet type, single unit piece.
Thoughts?

Mike,
With the correct spec bearing installed there should be no real need for a strap/bracket. But the bearing WILL fail eventually. It is more of an insurance thing. Yes, the mock-up is 'rinky dink' looking. I just wanted to get the dimensions right and use stock I had on hand. It can be made lots of different ways with different materials. Should LET have to provide this? Not in my opinion. But anyone that feels the need can now make something using the drawing hole sizes and spacing and it will fit.
As a side note, the idler pulley sitting next to the SC pulley uses a strap/bracket that attaches above the idler and has the idler mounting bolt going through it. It has the engine cover front bracket on it also.

I would also pay a little more for such a solution.
But this is only my opinion...

Re: !!! LET Motorsports Pulley Failure !!!
Well I found a 6303 bearing and put it in to only find yet another noisy problem. Here's what I saw when looking for the noise(and after turning the engine off). This is my wonderful LET waterpump pulley..............
