Crank Position sensor FIXED...
Crank Position sensor FIXED...
I dont think I followed up with you guys on the final solution to my intermittant CPS. I thought it was a intermittant connector or harness and couldnt find it with the meter.
Then I got my modified mani's back and installed them and went to fire it up and no go. I played with the connector, played with the CPS, replaced the CPS with the spare...still no fire. Then I remembered that while scanning the freeze frame data after one of the errors I noticed that the voltage wasnt quite what it should be (Cant remember what it was just thought it was odd). I hooked up the battery charger and set it to 200amp cranking and instant ignition. Let the car warm up and turn it off. Try to start again without the charger...no startup. Hook up charger and instant on again. I wonder if I have a flakey voltage or current from the battery. Original batter, so I bought a new one and installed. No more startup issues. It has been a week now with lots of sitting idle and lots of hot starts after varying lengths of being off while running errands.
Now the question is....was my original CPS really bad? It is now cause I threw it away.
If your battery is getting old and your gauges and/or sensors are doing odd things, get it checked. Bad voltage OR current will screw with your electronics.

Re: Crank Position sensor FIXED....
It is not uncommon for a battery to cause all kind of fantom issues with electronics - even when it checks good - draw test or electronic test.
Being a part of the Durango Owners Forum for many years now, I have read all kinds of weird things a battery going bad can do before it actually dies.
When my Durango started with unusual problems, I swapped out a battery from one of my other cars for a day and everything was normal. New battery time.
Glad you found your problem. James
