So it’s still pushing a ton during your beloved autocross, eh? Would have sworn I’d seen this thread before. ;=)

Increasing its rear roll couple will indeed help it to rotate. Not sure of your current setup, but there’s no sense in adjusting the front stick less when, in fact, the aft end is not contributing its fair share to the traction equation.

Knowing your fabrication skills and tenacity, forming a larger anti-roll bar should be duck soup during the off season. Failing that, H&R’s R170 ('03 SLK) rear 20mm bar is readily available. I’ve installed their bars and springs with favorable results. They’re quality pieces.

Let me know how you like it, if it makes a nice difference I will get one as well

H&R is a german company, i have used their springs before and they were great.

Tire rack sells it too:

Thanks for the assistance, I have in fact made a big sway bar for the Challenger and that was a lot of heat, steam, sweat and work. Dont wanna go there if at all possible this time.

Ill post the install and change as it happens, Thanks again, Woody.

20mm is not all that huge, i wonder what the size of the stock bar is?

If it makes a nice difference I will definately order one, it does get a little light in the rear end when going fast in the curves.

I ordered one as well. I have a customer that has a barely used one they are looking to sell if anyone is interested. I know it's larger then the base models, but not sure about the SRT.

how about a wider front rim? flared feders. would this offset the plowing?

the base crossfire i pretty flat as it is. shocks and springs might help.

I run the H&R bars front & rear, big difference in cornering, and much better balance -- not as much understeer. Rear is a real pain to install -- have to drop the diff.

Ya know I was warned about stiffening up my Mustang GT's suspension for autocrosses. Some vets told me that in the real-world, like on road curves and road tracks, stiffer suspension is better, but on a tight autocross you want a loose susension that allows the car to lean on its tires and get the front end turned better. These were real vet' guys so I gave what they said some credit and only did partial upgrades.

And coincedently I did my rear sway first as my only suspension mod. I immediately noticed on my next autocross that the rear-end was stiff but the nose leaned like usual, and it caused my car to 'plow' through corners instead of turn.

According to the vet's nothing helps autocross like soft R compound tires and that a stiffer suspension would hurt things.

In fact there were a few people that discovered this the hard way and removed their upgaded suspensions and actually re-bought stock bars and control arms because they had already sold theirs off when they upgraded.

Anyways Woody I know you're a vet' too I just wanted to share my experience. ... The crossfire is a completely different beast so everything I said may not apply.

Yo Dudes.

Not sure what the stock dimensions are on our SRT's but I use the PST sway bars on my Chevelles and those sway bars are HUGE!!!

Yo Woody,
Did you ever check out the PST I mentioned the last time you posted this question?

Anybody have the stock bar sizes handy???

Could one of you gentlemen kindly contribute to another of Woody’s insatiable quests by measuring your rear anti-roll bar?

Recall that the bar’s stiffness is influenced to the 4th power by its diameter.

YMMV.

Woody,
PST offers a 1 1/8" (28.575mm) front and a
1" (25.4mm) rear sway bar.

Still don't know how this compares to our stock bars. Too cold and dark for me to go out and measure right now.
Anyone?

Those PST looks promising!

1 1/8 front and 1 rear, didnt mention if they were hollow or not.
Whats the difference between the three I wonder, Polygraphite?

NEVER sold one?
Did they tell ya that Woody?
You might be starting a whole new string of sales for them if they work out.
You should of told them that you would evaluate their sway bar and report on it for free! Nothing wrong with free!

Oh, I want my cut too for suggesting them as a supplier!

Actually I did suggest that I could do a product evaluation for a consideration. No soap/joy/ love/luck/ whatever.

Bad thing is that he said that they would call the Factory to get more info for Monday. He let slip the name addco.

I had called and spoke to one of the family a number of years back and was not impressed. I also had BACK in the day run their sway bars on my wigged out 2 liter pinto ( above 7000 RPM was inspirational ) with a 4 barrel carb, 4:11, roll cage, as I started to get into autocrossing. They were primitive I thought, but that is 30 years ago.

A Pinto you say? You’re dating yourself, Woody.

Had a ’73 Runabout as my first car. Racer Walsh engine hardware, Sig Erson cam, 4210 Holley, Quickor suspension, and lots of other ‘essential’ goodies. Ran a 17.45 @ 77 at OCIR. What a turd! Beat up on the Vegas and 510s in HS though.

^ not mine

Thought I’d have grown out of the hotrodding game by now. Apparently not.

16.90 in my 2 liter 73 Pinto. At the time that was just .05 off of the national record if I recall correctly. Used to drag race and autocross in it. One day a was up against a 9 second Vega in the final race of the day (bracket racing). I was 3/4 of the way down the track before they let him loose! Had a blast driving that car!
