Default I'm going faster...but not enough yet

Okay, I got the car back together with the gasket from the SSB.(Poor baby has gone to pieces.) I put the DR's on and drove over to PIR and ran a few times. Here are the time slips. I did pretty good burn outs(first time ever for that) for the first two trips and not good enough for the second two.

First pass was a 12.34 @ 104.3 and a 60' of 1.85.
Second pass was 12.27 @ 111.4 and 60' of 1.81.
Third pass was 12.35 @ 111.34 and 60' of 1.86.
Fourth pass was 12.65 @ 111.49 and 60' of 2.1.

I hooked up pretty good on the first two passes, spun a little on the third and spun a LOT on the fourth. I probably didnt get the tires heated up good enough for number 3 and 4. They really felt greasey getting off the line. Not a bad night, but I was planning on a lot better. I guess I need a lot of practice to get my RT down good and get my tires to hook up better. PIR is a decent track, but not as good as Woodburn.

Elevation:30 feet
Temp: 55
Humidity: 65%
Bar: 29.9in
Dew: 62

edit: previous best was 12.5 @ 112.6mph

"Elevation:30 feet" .........................I hate you. j/k

Good times. You outran my PB ET with a slower trap and exact same 60'.

12.35 @ 112.18 on a 1.81 60'............at 3500' elevation/DA.

Sweet!!!

12.27 with a 181 pulley, SL55 intake, and a 91 octane tune....

I thought that was impossible! - or was it 240's manifolds?....

Now you can look forward to a "hot-chip" tune and better traction next season and I bet your in the 11's.....

Glad you could get it all put back together today...

I have the 240 manifold mod and a new LET tune for it. I need to get it to the dyno and see what it is doing and what my AFR is now. I think I should be in the 11's when I get my skill level up. This is my first year of racing and I have a total of 32 time slips. The car probably has some much better times in it. It just needs a 'driver mod'. I am trying to work out that trip to Phoenix Dec 14. Maybe CruzinQuick could be really quick in the Aero??

I still have to install the LET HE and CM30 pump, new Koni adjustable rear shocks, new steering stabelizer and, oh yeah, a custom TB-SC aluminum spacer w/gaskets.

Those are great times MikeR. You were only a few hundredths off the fastest pass ever just 12 months ago. Wow your DA is calculated at 81ft!!!! That is killer. I would love to make a pass in your car. I really hope you can make it. You will see your times come down once you get comfortable with your launch. The burn out doesn't have to be that long, but you do have to spin the wheel long enough for the drivers wheel to spin also. Usually takes about 4 seconds to get the other one spinning. Once both spin keep it there with the brakes lightly for another 4 seconds and your good. I try to roll very little after and do a dry hop. Meaning hold the brake and give it some gas and let go, if the tires spin they are still a little wet. Do it again. Just be careful not to pass the staging beam.

Awesome Mike! Am I reading that right, the first pass was only a trap of 104.3 with an awesome 12.34 or was that a misprint? Glad you are liking the Voxx wheels and DR's! Congrats and I need to get my car back to the track after my LET re-tune to see what she'll do. I still need to do some cooling mods before I get close to where you are at. The weather has been nice and cool in the mornings here in Orlando the last few days, low 40's! Just need to have those low temps when I hit the track on 11/9, then I'll get some decent times in for sure!

Hey Mike,

You ran some nice times there! Much on par to what my car is doing now. I hate to break it to you bud, but IMO, you are still a good ways away from 11's. Your trap speed is just "ok", like mine. Believe me, I have launched this car with the best of them and the way it stands now, 11's is just out of reach. Rob and Jeff have both put down 11.9's and their trap speeds are just awesome (115-117 mph). That is what you will need to get into the 11's with this car. We aren't there yet. I just got my "new" Jerry tune last night. I am wondering if it is the same tune you have. If so, I won't see any change in ET. I am going to the track tomorrow night. Ill let you know how I make out.

Good luck to you guys! That is crazy all the 12.27's everyone is running, lol. These cars must be built with some close tolerances to be running such similar times all over the country.

I am anxious to see those dyno numbers, please scan/post the charts when you get them.

Sorry guys, I forgot to post the time slips. I'll do that when I get off work. My RT was not very good. And that should net me some to get me close to the 12.0 mark. This was my first time at PIR. The end of the track is dark and on the first run I didnt know where the end was and let off about 100' early. And yes that was correct, 12.3 @ 104. Think how good it would have been if I would have stayed in it to the end. The track did feel slippery for about the first 100 feet. PIR is a road course track with a setup for 1/4 mile. It didnt feel like it was prepped any where near as good as Woodburn is. But it was fun and now I have a new PB and room to improve.

R/T has nothing to do with ET.

Great driver runs, your 60' times were good IMO. Sounds like you need a NW intake and check your tune. I was thinking youd do better with those mods.

What are you on commission from needswings? The SL55 intakes he has flow enough air.

Especially from someone who couln't come close to that time with a NW intake and 185 pulley......on a well prepped track..

I think a lot of the "Talk" is going to put to rest next year.

First off:

1) I'm not an experienced racer and was running mostly 1.9 and some change 60'

2) I was running on semi worn down stock all season Continentals at normal psi

3) it was like 86 degrees at the track that day

4) I don't have the newest latest greatest tune

5) fully stock exhaust

6) stock intake manifolds

And my best time that day was a 12.48 at 110.5 and like a 1.94 60', so now what do you have to say Brian?

Mike, congrats on the good times. I like those consistent 1.8x 60fts(the first 3 at least, lol). I have a few questions.

Why did you let off in the first run?

How much time passed between each run, and did you use ice to cool down the s/c?

I wish you were running the 185 mm pulley. Do you have a boost gauge so we know what your max psi is?

The fact that your first time was so good for having let off makes me wonder if the s/c was cool as it could have been on the other runs?

I let off because I thought I was at the end. As I mentioned, the end of the track is DARK and when I went into the dark I thought that was the end of the 1/4. Then I saw it wasnt but just rode it out knowing it wouldnt be great. You have to turn on your lights to find your way to the turn out and back. I only waited about 20 minutes between runs and no ice with me this time so the SC wasnt cooled down real good. I also have to get used to the new DR's. No more track nights this year though.

The first two runs felt like the hook up was pretty darn good and I didnt hear or feel more than a fraction of a spin. The other two runs were spinning. Number 4 spun for a ways of the line.

Two possible problems, one the weak battery can cause some of the emissions to go of line and the car does not run at optimum performance. My battery was disconnected and it took 598 miles to get it back to running right. Two the new mani's need some time for the computer to adjust to the additional air flow, the two issues together well.....
