Auto Trader
Re: Auto Trader
It's been said but many of the dealers just don't take down their listing on Autotraders even when the cars been gone for months. Cars.com is just a search engine that locates vehicles advertised elsewhere. It would be nice if there were some expiration like EBay has on its listings, but I guess Autotrader has an interest in keeping the number of vehicles for sale artificially high.
Those Chrysler "short lease" vehicles that they essential dumped onto the wholesale market at the end of 07/beginning of 08 have for the most part made their way back into buyers hands. There doesn't seem to be a significant number currently for sale on ths forum -- a few, but not many -- and the owner base on this forum is more enthusiastic about the cars than most.

Re: Auto Trader
Mercedes in general have tons of small problems that pop up during the life of the car... For us, we don't care, we buy the part and grab a wrench. But for most people its considered 'unreliable' and they sell the cars right after warranty. Its no surprise to see more and more srt-6's for sale.
Its the reason that people like me who only make $45K a year are able to buy a fast car. And with some wrench-turning skills, the rich people's loss is our gain.

As a former 2005 Mustang GT owner, I can say that I think very low of the muscle car family now that I've experianced a true sports car like the srt-6. The efficient power (330hp in a V6 vs the Mustang's 300hp in a V8) and the cornering power makes up for an awesome machine. The muscle car family is too much about power and loudness. But it floats some people's boats.
There is a magazine out this month (I wont remember the name of it) that rates 10 sports cars on a road track. Lotus, RX-8, and a Porsche etc finished 1-2-3, while the Mustang GT500 King of the Road was back in 9th. All that power, loudness, and money and it can't compete with the true sports cars that have smaller more efficient engines and great handling. And the worst part about it is Ford actually makes the most efficient of muscle car engines, allowing them to run smaller engines vs the frickin 6+liter GM muscle cars and still be faster, yet even Ford still doesn't compete in true road racing. (until you get up to the GT-40)
Anyways, my point is that yes, its rare to hear someone badmouth a terminator cobra, but you're on a board with a breed of people that are turned on by something completely different.

If you don't like a car, don't start trash talking, but finish it....Give respect and get respect.

I don't buy that in the slightest. They're saying "eww mustang" because Mustangs are everywhere, often driven by 16 year old girls and overweight women. Mustang Terminators are a different breed of car altogether.
To ask "Why would you want a Cobra?" to a picture of a Terminator, is just pure ignorance.
Again, that car (03 and 04) had a hand built, supercharged 4.6L V8 that rapes and pillages small villages on the weekend.
That car quit its day job at an Abortion Clinic because it was "too nice" of a job.

A "breed" of people that drive an automatic sports car? C'mon.

With us being/used to be SRT4 and SRT6 owners you see the same thing on every message board. Uninformed tools...
Re: Auto Trader
Yes the terminator's engine did rape and pillage everything in its path. Until, of course, you put it on a road course where the true sports cars roam. Besides a few impressive moments on straightaways, I would take an RX-8, SRT-6, C6 (Im not even saying Z06), any day. In fact, on a tight enough road course, I'd bet on a Miata over the terminator. I know first hand how bad the new Mustang models handle, and I've read plenty about how much better they handle than the previous mustangs. And just like the current model gt500 vs the GT, the terminator had the same suspension but stiffer, and that extra stiffness does nothing for the road course.
It all brings me back to my main point. Different things float different people's boats. Some don't care about handling and overall driving and want to see all out 1/4 mile speed. In that case, your terminator wins hands-down.
If you offered me an '04 terminator for my srt-6 I would say no way. Doesn't do it for me. But if you offer me a new GT500 for my srt-6, I'd take the deal, because the positive attention it gets outweighs speed and handling combined.
My boat would be floated quite well with that car.
And about your qoute on a breed of people driving automatic sports cars... its because those are faster than manual sports cars. Times have changed. automatics outshift manuals hands-down. And in the current Mustang generation a computer tuned auto tranny and even better a torque converter puts the manual tranny to shame. You're either very old or very stubborn to believe a manual tranny is better for performance. Maybe for fun? Maybe, but doubtful. But definately not for performance.
Then again if you're driving in a straight line I guess things can get boring so the manual tranny might spice things up.

A "sports car" is all about fun. No true sports car should have an auto sitck. I agree that the type of people that would scoff at a Terminator, yet support an automatic sports car is a "breed" of their own. "Inbreed" to be exact.
