Default My dyno, running way too rich

Here is my dyno, I could have made a few more hp if the car could have cooled some more. I drove 2.5 hours up and went straight on the dyno.

Look how rich it is running, on the first run (not shown) it was as rich as 10.85:1 a/f ratio on the top.

Inmotion is going to give me a new tune, I sent them my timing datalog and my dyno graph.

dyno.jpg

Temps: 82 degrees
Humidity: 19%
Mods: CAI, Tune, Code3 pulley

I bet I can pick up 15 or 20whp accross the board with a better a/f ratio.

12.0 is about right!

I was running 10.5 after installing the 185 pulley prior to the tune..after the tune, I now run 12.5-13.0 I don;t think you want to run any leaner then that.

here are the actual a/f ratios:

afratio.jpg

i think i will shoot for 12.2:1, that should be safe and make more power. WHat do you guys think?

My timing looks really conservative but then again i do not know a lot about this particular motor. does anyone else have their timing graphed?

I'm probably running about the same air/fuel with my Code-3, tune, CAI, and exhaust, below 12 for sure. Once I get a complete dyno done, I'll send in my data to LET for a re-tune also.

Those numbers look pretty good. I have not seen another dyno that shows actual timing. Very interesting. I bet inmotion can get some more hp out of that tune!

That is a very short dyno run. I'd be curious to know how the car is doing starting closer to 3000 rpm.

And those wheels DO look pretty good.

thanks and yet i agree, maybe i can get them to start at a lower rpm next time.

hopefully i can get some other guys with code3 pulleys to post their dynos so i can compare their a/f ratios.

Here is the same basic set up....I have the Code 3, Needswings, and LET Tune and it was hotter outside. Jerry at LET asked me to send my ECU back so that he could lean it up on the bottom end. I am waiting to to get 240's Manifolds before I send it back to him.

Thanks, so it looks like you made about the same. inmotion is trying to say i am having massive belt slip or something is wrong and that is why my a/f ratios are so rich. my belt is very tight and looks brand new.

You can add .5 to the A/F when the tail pipe sniffer (O2 Sensor) is used.

exactly. we have nearly identical numbers. i made 328/328 and i do not see belt slip on either of our dyno graphs. i think my tune is just too rich.

I can email you the WinPeg7 file for my dyno run if you need to forward it to Inmotion. Just PM me your email address.

I have the 181mm pulley, SL55 intake and LET tune. My AFR was 11.4 average also. I have a couple things to do(not telling yet.. ) and then I will get Jerry to tweak mine also.

Remember the car is "Drive by wire", meaning you must use a Dynapak or similar dyno that spins all 4 wheels equally otherwise the ABS/ESP will offset throttle, timing fueling etc and your results will be tainted. If you have access to a Star Scan you can defeat this by setting it in "Dyno" mode. Forget pulling Fuse #17 & 18 as this will NOT completely defeat the traction control and can cause an over rich "limp" condition. If you cannot find a proper dyno or Star Scan then it is best to gather your logs via OBD or quality gauges with logging capability.

To my knowledge a wideband scanner like the LC-1 delivers only aproximate numbers, because the temperature of the exhaust gas is not included in the data...

According to the air/fuel on your dyno sheet, you are already running lean, so why would LET want to make it even leaner? Above 12 should be more than enough without causing any problems.

12.5 is about perfect. I am running less than that on the bottom end. Also, the tailpipe sniffer used on dynos is about .5 off from being so far down from the actual combustion.
