Default Gauge Install Complete!

We just finished up a set of gauges in the Triple Pod and WOW does it look good.

Gauges were Boost/Vac, Volts, and Oil Pressure. As far as we know we are the first to get oil pressure on this car. Don't quote me on that it's just what I was told when I called a bunch of MB shops asking how to do this. Same answer, no one has done it yet. It was difficult, but we finally figured out a very effective way.

The other stuff was simple to install. We painted the pillars to match the dash and it looks great. Gauges are Prosport. By far the best gauges for the money.

OK and now to the pictures...

By the way this is not our car, it is one of our customer's.

Very nice!
Where'd you pull the boost/vac from?

That setup looks really nice...

The ProSport Gauges have really turned out to be a decent gauge, I wired mine for green and it actually matches the dash gauges really good.

I would like to know more about the oil pressure gauge sensor install. I am considering a three gauge pillar pod and would like to add the oil press with my current boost and IAT gauges.

So you painted the pillars the Matte blackish color that the rest of the car is? or was the silver around the stereo painted black and you matched that? cause if you got it to look like the matte blackish color as the rest of the dash that is really impressive with that slight texture thing going on.

I believe Woody is the only one who did mimic the finish of the dash. I am yet to see pictures but, he was doing a write up I believe. WE played around with it for hours and came up short.

The closest we could come up with was buy some textured paint from home depot. I do not remember what it is called but on the can will be a fake rock simulation and someone spraying a lamp I believe it comes in brown and black or grey and black. Spray the pillar let it sit for an hour (takes three to dry) then gently push in each of the raised pieces of paint ever so slightly for the round texture effect not the jagged texture effect. TAKES FOR EVER, then let it dry and paint it flat black.

OE is still the desired look so I picked up 3 headlinners, we can now match the fabric of the headlinner. This is still an option for the pillars even though it is not a cheap one. I am just throwing it out there, I and some of our customers have been dissapointed with the way the interior painted pillars match, I explain the chance and people are still more then willing to take it. It is impossible once again to get the color right and it is even more difficult to match the texture of the orginal pillar. It is sad to see that marks pillar got painted black but it really does match the dash and that might be the new route we will have to take.

It almost matches the dash. It is slightly more glossy and a tad darker.

We will be releasing a kit for the Oil Pressure Gauge. It requires a bunch of special tools and the majority of the right half of the engine to come off.

But oh so worth it.

Yes this is Mark's car.

Looks Good! I really like my Prosport Set up too. I am just waiting for them to release their Wideband A/F Ratio gauge and my triple pod will be complete

Excellent job on this project, TVT_DESIGN. Well done. I’m still jonesing to fit boost and IAT gauges.

Kinda curious how MB made it such a challenge to verify its oil pressure:

Are the size of the gauges 2 1/6 or 2 5/8?

That doesn't work as easily on the SC cars. The spot you tap into is blocked by the oil cooler.

Is it wrong to post pics of a customers install before they even get to see it. Hang in there Dave I will have her back to you tomorrow afternoon.
