Default Removed Resonator, added "Y" Pipe

Wow, what a difference! I was wondering what it would sound like and even my friends say it sounds like an exotic going down the street. Or course I had the rear cats removed 2 months which adds to the sound. It is a little bit louder than I thought it would be and with some low end vibration. On the highway at cruise speeds it is nice and quite. But when you open up this bad boy, it draws attention! Didn't think this could happen with the stock mufflers but I'm glad I had this mod done. With the windows up, the sound is very noticeable, as if the rear hatch was open. Didn't think it would come through the back end that loud. I just hope my wife does not mind when we drive around together. The next time I get her up on the lift, (the car not my wife, LOL), I'll be sure to take some pictures and display them here.

so you have had the rear cats and the resonator removed. but still have the muffler and the 2 first cats? and you say its that loud? hmm now i want to hear this in person cause i just cant hear the difference on the youtube video. the video of waldigs car without the muffler sounds like it would be nice

From the inside it is much louder. I need someone to drive it so I can hear it going down the street. I find myself really watching my speeds more so and I'm curious to hear it from the outside. Either today or this weekend I'll have my son drive it. I really need to get the pics once I am able to put it up on the lift. Kind of hard to take pics from underneath without one.

I sure like the mod - I had the opportunity to hear a local C32 with the resonator deleted before I did mine...and I was sold...

Try to put up a sound clip because I had this idea too and if I can hear it before I go through with it that would be great.

I hated my '05 mustang because I made it too loud with straight pipe muffler replacements. It was annoying and one of the reasons I searched for an srt-6 to replace it with.

So I need to be a bit careful about how far I take the srt-6 exhaust.....

I added some pics to my first thread. From the outside the sound is phenomenal, but from inside the cockpit, while accelerating of course, it sounds louder than I really wanted. I have to somehow borrow someones video camera and place it behind the headrests so you can hear what it's like. If someone that already has removed the resonator, get a recording behind the headrest so the loudness will be heard the actual way you hear it. Also having the rear cats removed may have contributed to it being louder.

They did a very nice job, it's probably the cleanest job I've seen posted here yet.

I've been really debating removing the resonator (and the rear cats). The SRT is very quite stock, which has it's advantages, but at times it would be nice for it to sound like the performance vehicle it is. The roadster is already a little noiser then the coupe (not from the exhaust, just an inherient feature of a convertible). Drone is something I don't want (which is why I assume they put the resonator there to begin with ?).

How did it sound when you just had the rear cats removed ?

Just having the rear cats removed gave it a little more throaty sound which sounds great! Basically enhancing the already great sounding stock exhaust.

I heard this same mod in person when Chi-Town SRT/6 came to my house.
Went for a drive and heard a noticeable difference.
Deep throaty sound you probably would not hear very well on youtube.

So what are the steps of removal from stock to too loud?

i.e. -> Which one do you remove first rear cats only, resonator or muffler?
How about level two, three ect??
Thanks.

Mimi, glad you are enjoying the mod. I did the resonator but kept all the cats. I really like the deeper, thoartier sound. I love to rev it up and let it run.

Opps! How'd that happen!?

I'd like to take the "noise" level one step at a time and was looking for guidance as where to start. Then take it another step if I could stand another level of "noise".

Anyone?

i would start with the rear cats cause they seem to be pretty useless if im not mistaken. and you might get a little gain out of that
