Default Motor mounts

Just found out that my daughter's SRT has a broken motor mount. Why? I don't know. The dealer said he is seeing a few mm problems with the XF and another Chrysler. (?) Pacifica.

I am glad I had not put the 181 pulley on yet or the CAI or had the ECU flashed.

We have been going to the 1/8 mile track over the past 6-8 weeks and running 8-10 runs each time. I would be surprised if that caused the problem. My SRT does not have any problems and I am much harder on the acceleration then Ashley is and I have the 181 pulley and ECU tuned.

The symptoms were that upon hard acceleration the shifter would move in your hand rather significantly.

I thought that the mm's might be the problem and spoke to the mechanic next door to my office. I popped the hood and gave the car some gas with the ER brake on and the engine tried to jump out. And I mean it lifted toward the right 4-6 inches briefly. Scary

Dropped it off at the dealer Sat to replace both mm's, the trans mm, and fix a few other oddities.

SRT is on extended warranty. $100 Deductable...... Thanks Todd

Good thing you purchased the extended warrantee. I had the motor mount replaced on a previous car and it was an expensive repair.

Good luck and keep us informed on how long it stays in the shop.

The motor mounts are $175 each and the trans mount is $100 or less. I beleive I have a hundred dollar deductable. In addition, the air bag light is on (dealer relplaced the glove box and center console last month) and the driver side seat control panel is off. Probably when they replaced the seat heaters, they left the screw loose.

All in all Tamiami Chrysler has been pretty good. Usually it is me telling them what the problem is........thanks to forum members and some common sense.

Likely a "power-braking" issue.
Loading up a few 1000 rpms at the track.......

Could be. But, no problems with mine. I am just glad I drove Ashey's SRT before we went to Orlando. It could have been a disaster.

I think with the torque numbers on these small cars increasing exponentially these days motor mount failures have become alot more common.

Anyone know of any racing motor mounts that can replace the OEMs?

Most M-B cars use liquid filled motor mounts that only have one bolt on bottom and one nut on top holdin them in place. I cannot rememeber if the old SLKs have those mounts as I haven't pulled the engine one one yet to see as they are rarely in the shop.
