OK, here's the deal guys...I'm an owner of a '05 base crossfire coupe with 40k. I just made my last payment on my lease. Since my baloon payment is only 15k, I decided to finance that. So on this very Saturday I went to the dealership to inquire on extending my warranty. The guy that sold me my car 3 years ago, Mike Rozen, who is now the finance manager told me that they just got a '06 SRT6, Slate Grey, with 10k miles. He says to me "You're going to buy this car Milt". So I figure, let me go out back and at least take a look.

So I look at it, say to myself "hmmm, nice - not to crazy about the color but it's ok". On a scale of 1 - 10, the car is a 8.75. So I ask to take it for a spin, mind you, I've never driven this car before. The car is mechanically sound, fully loaded and it gets up - even with the A/C on. So we get back to the dealership and I ask him what's it going for. He says 22k, I figure I can talk him down to 20 which I did. So I say to Mike, the finance guy, to make it happen.

Now here's the final details, My payments on the base was in the mid 400's for 3 years (I put like $50 down). Since I planned on financing the balloon, it will remain at that rate for another 36 months. If I get the SRT-6, my payment will still be the same for 48 month. So I went ahead with it. Objectively, I'm going to keep it for maybe a year, year and half at most and sell it on Craiglist, E-bay or something. So tell me what you think, did I get a good deal or what?

Sounds like the '06s aren't all that rare after all (if it's an SRT).

 

Why keep it for only 1-1.5 years! Keep it, drive it and enjoy it.

 

What is with all these 06's showing up. Seems a bit strange. Did you get the history report??

Thanks for the responses guys...WOW, it's rare - please excuse me for being naive; I would have never thought that I'd be pushing an SRT. Monday, after work it's on and popping!!! But...wait....why are these rare???

 

If it is a 2006 SRT-6, they only made like 12 of them in total for 2006.

What's the build number and born on date? Where in the US are you located. I'd be showing this thing off!!

And the easiest way to know if you have a true 06 SRT is to see whether the SRT emblem is on the front fenders. In 06 they started putting up there rather than the trunk lid supposedly.

Post the VIN so we can check to see if it's a real '06.

 

Actually the US 2006s didn't have the additional emblems. Just check the 10th VIN digit. If it is a 6, you've got a 2006 model.

 

Actually you're right Playdrv, it is an '06 but it does not have the emblem on the fender.

 

Sounds like you got a great deal, and with only 13 2006 coupes made it might increase in value.

 

Well technically our forum friend in Puerto Rico just bought an '06 with the side fender mounted emblems, but I suppose you probably mean mainland U.S. imported cars.

Also, I still think we need to see the entire VIN, 10th VIN digit being a 6 is right, but it could still be a regular XF with an emblem on it.

Normally I wouldn't be the pessimist but for there only being 12 of these things around having 2 show up here in the space of a week when neither person was even particularly LOOKING for one sure is odd.

 

Tell me about it! No one 100% believed me until I posted the VIN. Even then some wondered if it was dressed up. But this forum did me a favor. I researched that car and asked questions like you can't imagine. I hope you got one, I really do.
We need to start an SRT 06 registry.

Miltolam, if you are naive do like I did. Go to decodethis.com to start. Check carfax. Carfax gave me the date the car went through customs in Germany. If it checks out you are the man.

 

yeah, what we did for you les is what we need to do for miltolam. i'd need to see the entire vin decoded by carfax to believe it's a '06.
