Default Rotex Gold vs Axxis Ultimate Brake Pads??

OK I'd like some useful comments on which brake pads I should buy for my SRT6 coupe. I'm not a racer and don't take my SRT6 to the track, I just want to reduce the brake dust!!

I've read many posts, some say that the Rotex Gold are the standard but others say the ceramic Axxix pads are lower dust. There are many contrary opinions out there.

Can someone that has first hand KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE with BOTH of these brands reply with the advantages of one vs the other?

Also in the photos on the AXXIS box, the pads look like they have odd tabs that appear to stick way out the sides, are they truly compatible with the OEM calibers & rotors? Do they require any HW modifications or replacement calipers to fit?

Thanks

Not exactly your requested reply but...
I use Posi Quiets on the SRT6 & SRT8 and they work very well.

Ceramic will give less dust then semi-metalic but also do not stop as well as semi metalics..

Posi-quiets are also the exact same pads as Rotex (same mfg) and create very little dust. Great combo.

This seller carries front , rear, or F&R sets. Best price is I found is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cross...spagenameZWD1V

Hope to hear from a few other Rotex & Axxis users.

I installed the Rotex pads some time ago and they perform well but don't expect zero dust. I still get some but much better than the stock pads.

There may be better pads out there but I think that the majority of our members have used Rotex and they have a proven track record. As time goes on, I think we may find a consensus on a better pad, but for now, I went with Rotex. Here's a review on Rotex that I found useful. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/rot...e-pads-review/

To eliminate your next post asking if anyone has brake squealing problems, be sure to turn the rotors and coat the backs of the pads with anti squeal grease or spray.

Good Luck

Thanks for the url, it is a very good article and helps. I don't expect zero dust and I'm leaning towards the Rotex Gold (even if some other brands claim to be the same). I'll do the wax the rims trick. Also, I would like to hear from some Axxis users if there are any on the forum.

I'm surprised no one uses the "other trick" from the Hypermilers......that is of course to not use the brakes, that should save on dust . I little tricky to drive that way but maybe we should all give it a try so we can stop cleaning our wheels after every drive.

A sure way to cut your brake dust almost in half without replacing the brake pads is the staggered wheel approach :

left front 18" wheel & tire
right front 19" "
left rear 19" "
right rear 18" "

That way you ride most of the time on the 19"' and the 18" stop turning cutting your brake dust almost in half. It also keeps your coffee level in our wonderful cupholder.

True - true, But you really need to figure out if you make more LEFT hand turns or more RIGHT hand turns, and put the 19" up front on the opposite side of whichever you turn most.

So if you mostly make LEFT hand turns put the 19" on the Front Right so there will be less rotation and thus less brake dust.

...as a side not the smaller wheel in the back will help elliminate ESP/Traction Controll some of the unwanted control kicking in when you have Traction Control turned off

Left and right aren't a problem as much as uphill and down hill. 18" on front for uphill 19" on front for down hill. This is getting complicated. It might be easier to put up with the brake dust.
