Driven almost everyday and autocrossed ~6-8 times a year. My thought is if you paid for a "sports" car then drive it like it's a sports car. If your tires are lasting you more than a year you're not driving hard/far enough.

I have owned several cars that rarely were driven except to shows etc. No one seemed to appreciate them like I did therefore I did not get much more out of them when I sold them. No more. It does not pay off unless you have something very rare or almost new while it just turning 20 years old etc. I just hope that the SRT holds steady for a while and I would be happy. I baby my car at the same time I drive it daily however I do not drive it if the forcast calls for rain. I do have fun with it at the track every so often as well. Currently 25,000 miles.

Thanks for all the replies everybody!

For the guys that say..."I don't drive it when I think it's going to rain"...can you explain? I get that in some places there are a lot of chemicals in the rain, so is it for the paint protection issue? Or is it something else?

Mine is a daily driver also. If I wanted a Crossfire just to park and look at I would have bought a Crossfire poster and saved a bunch.

I don't understand the rain avoidance behavior either.

i just don't drive it in the rain. i don't have to. i have a 21 year old truck for that, and if the top is up on the little Jeep i'll drive it instead.

i mean, if i'm out of town road trippin' and it rains, okay, i'll drive it. but to take it out when it's already pouring? nah, ain't going to happen.

Mine is driven everyday. When my 3rd gen RX7 comes back online I will drive it a couple times a week and the XF the rest. The joy for me is the driving experience. Nothing well almost nothing gives you the same thrill when squeezng the throttle just a little harder coming out of a nice twisty!

N/A here, but I definately drive mine daily 65+ a day. average about 400 a week right now....Thats just because work is so dag gum far away, starting august 1 it will be like 10miles at most round trip which will be nice... I definately keep her clean, weekly washing, monthly waxing. Inside is spotless at all times, nothing gets left in there that doesn't belongs. Just because its a daily driver doesn't mean you can't keep it looking like its only a weekend car...IMO

Both are daily drivers.
I wouldn't mind selling the '04 but since no one around here is interested it's now my wife's car. She drives it back & forth to work here in town, probably 5 - 6 miles a day. If it sells someday fine, if not, oh well .
The SRT is my back-&-forth-to-work car, roughly 100+ miles a day. It's a complete blast to drive even in winter though I won't drive it if the forecast is for snow. Still, I try to baby it as much as possible. It gets pampered more than any other car I've ever owned.
Anyways, if I have to haul anything big, take trips to the dump or drive in a snowstorm I still have the '99 Cougar, its cavernous hatch & a set of snow tires.

The reason I don't drive mine in the rain is that I don't have to so why cause all that extra work if it is not needed. I keep my car immaculate inside, outside and in the engine compartment. The rain hogs up the engine compartment to a certain extent as well as all door jambs let alone everything else. Just saves me time and effort. It has been driven in the rain only once within the last year due to getting caught in it. Being black, you know what it takes to keep it show ready and that is what I do. No big deal, that is just me.

Mine is just a toy - I keep it clean, shiny and sano - then run it hard. But it's not "precious" by any means.

But if I could only have one automobile - I would have a truck. - Just not my current truck..

Same here, I drive my car hard but try to maintain it very well. I drive it all the time except to work and in the winter.

I drive mine to work every day which is about 25 miles round trip. I have a second car if need be I could keep the miles down. Right now I'm sitting at about 22k

Same here, the bugs are not as bad then. I don't drive it in the rain and I don't take a hose to it unless I absoultly have to. The main reason I don't drive it much is because everytime I drive it I feel the need to clean it up after I do. I can't stand to see it sitting in the garage dirty. Plus I just don't have the time to drive it, my Harley hasn't even had the cover off it this year. Now that's sad, but I've had some lower back problems this year and I'm afraid it will cause me more pain.

Both of mine are DD's. But mine gets a cleaning every 20 miles or after every trip at the end of the day. I am trying to clean the paint off of her. Just kidding about the paint.

The Florida sun is hard on a car. But, there is a lot of wax on them.

I think SRT 6 Steve said it all for me...exactly the same...Black is a lot of work, not driving it in a rain unless necessary...its hard enought to keep the other 2 black car and jeep clean....
