Not One Srt
Not One Srt
I have traveled alot lately. I drove to Gatlinburg, TN, from Cincinnati and spent a long weeknend and did not see one Crossfire, not one. I left when I got back and have been in Los Angles for two weeks. I went to see my daughter in Pismo Beach and saw my first Crossfire, IN A HANDICAP ZONE. Sorry, but it's not the easiest car to get in and out of. When we were at my daughters we went drove up the coast and went to Monterey and saw a white limited coupe at the aquiarum. I have seen six Crossfires so far. The last one was in Beverly Hills yesterday. None of the Crossfires were convertibles. I have not seen an SRT as of today and really don't expect to see one. I am amazed with all the cars and traffic in CA that I have not seen more Crossfires. Today it's off to the Corvair Nationl Convention in Ventura. Still looking for that first SRT.

Re: Not One Srt
I just finished a 8 day tour of the western states, 3100 miles, and I didnt see one, not one, Crossfire. A couple of Sky's, Soltice's and SLxxx. I went through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and parts of Colorado and Utah. I was pretty surprised. I see a few Crossfires in the Portland area once in a while.

I see a few Crossfires per week during my daily commute here in south Orange County, CA. But I can drive Pacific Coast Highway from Long Beach to Dana Point on a weekend and not see another Crossfire. In that drive I will see half a dozen Bentley Continental GTs, several Ferraris (even an Enzo on the rare occassion), a handful of Lamborghinis (mostly Gallardos), more high end Porsche 911 variants than you can shake a stick at, the odd McLaren SLR, plenty of M series BMWs, a few Rolls Royces and all sorts of old Jaguars, customs, hot rods, etc. But almost never another Crossfire.
I did see a group of Porsche Carrera GTs a couple of weeks ago. More on that at http://www.speedandmotion.com/pages/cgtdrive/index.html and http://www.autoblogexotics.com/?p=205 Talk about an amazing sight!! Half a dozen of these bad boys with a police escort and a Rolls Royce Phantom chase/camera car.

BTW - I traveled this great country every other summer when I was just kid (my brother and I one year, my sisters the other) with my Grandparents in their 65 Corvair. I think I must have gone on like 8 - 10 trips from coast to coast.
My Grandpa loved his yellow Corvair, heck after every trip I could recite how many miles, gas mileage, oil consumption... I think my grandfather was just has much as a Corvair guy as we are Crossfire guys.
Nothing changes - just the year and the technology.
Re: Not One Srt
I actually drove mine today and put about 100 miles on it - I was mosty around Torrance. I was on the following freeways today: 60w, 710S, 405n, 110s, 110n, 405s, 22e, 5n.
I'm in the LA area - and it was great weather today for driving the SRT witht he top down
Don't know what tomorrow will be like and my weekend started today

I hit the jackpot Sunday on I-85 near the SC/NC state line. Saw three Xfires. White coupe, probably a limited, an SSB SRT-6 coupe and a black roadster all heading North. Two of the cars were about a mile apart. That was very unusual. They must come out on Sundays! Was great weather so a good day to cruise the Carolinas. Saw a Mutual of Omaha TV ad with a red roadster in it. Local bank and a Credit Union using an SSB coupe in their weekly ads for "used car" loan interest rates. I even see the Xfire in Chrysler dealer TV ads, usually from the rear right corner as it drives away. Kinda cool looking ad. They are still rare enough to start conversations at the pumps.
