I hear ya. If I had 16 grand lying around I would have already bought it myself. Heck, if I could afford another $400 a month payment I would buy it on loan. But it's just not in the cards for me for a while. Plus I keep spending all my money going to Crossfire events and on performance parts!

I gave up trying to figure out how women think. Despite living with the same one for 40 years now, I still cannot anticipate her.

Last Friday,I caught her looking at Crossfires on Ebay. This was weird because she had determined we needed to keep money close as Business financing was hard to get. Yet here she was, after saying No! No! No!, looking at Xfires and sighing.

Finding a steal on a black SRT has been hard although some have popped up with good prices. She had a deal, a stretch for us, on one but it had just fallen thru. Every time I found one that wasn't black, "but what about my Mary Kay with the pink stripe?"

Sunday nite I hear "Oh, OH, Franc come see this!" An Aero Blue ragtop.
"But it has white seats!" She said quickly.
"Cream," I corrected. "And it's a NA."
I got a meek, " I know I know."

Monday morning I found myself sitting in a dealer in St Peters MO, Negotiating for her new Aero Blue '05 Rag top NA
Guys this much I now know, when a man buys a car, it is his dream, his person, his soul. When a woman buys one, IT IS AN ACCESORY! Like a purse or earings.

As we sat there, waiting for the "owner" to accept our ridiculous offer ( he did) I pointed out that for a grand more she could have an SRT. "But, I like this color. You keep wanting the black. Besides I love the white seats."

"Cream, " I reminded her as carefully as I could.

"Wait", she paused, "an Srt for a grand more than this?" YES "In Aero Blue? " YES. "Where?" "What color are the seats?" " Is it at a dealer?"

"YES! They are all charcoal interiors. But, they have suede on the seats! It is at a dealer, hopefully still there!"

Her eyes grew wide, the nostrils flared, I had better deliver this time. A frantic call to Bike Cop's friend Matt at the dealer in La Porte Indiana.

"Franc, I just sent it to Chrysler Chicago's Auction!" said Matt when I got him on the phone.
"Can you get it back?" I pleaded. And made him a real offer.
"For that, I'll find out?" ( who knows what I could have saved had she wanted Aero Blue last week)
BUT,

Two agonizing hours later, we had it! Aero Blue SRT. Does 1/4 in 12.42 seconds.

And, it matches her eyes.

I would call that a Happy Ending

No way!!! Great news! As far as how women think, just remember that they think all the time and remember everything you do. Both wrong and right.

You are right about "keeping score."
Cathy has a special scoreboard made up just for me. It is a piece of stone with a black board on one side.
When I do a good thing, she marks it in the chalk side. When I'm bad, she chisels on the stone.

The blackboard side gets erased regularly.

My wife remembers everything. But to her credit she remembers everything I do right as well as my errors. And I make sure to be heavily weighted on the good side. Sounds like we have the same species of woman. (Lucky fellows to have been found by such miraculous beings)

So, hold it here.....
Are you saying that, finally, you actually have an Aero Blue SRT (the fastest color available ) resting comfortably somewhere in the greater St. Louis area close to Rauscher Manor?
Finally?!
Are my eyes deceiving me?
BTW, Franc, EVERYTHING is an accessory for a woman........including ourselves!

Are your feet twitching yet?
Do you have a "special place" in the garage all squared away?

---hold it, just saw Selma Hayek on TeeVee running with a low cut dress on, OMG! ---

back to thread now...

Well Franc, you've done it! Congrats!!!
What now becomes of your present Xfire?

Sorry for the delay but the Selma Hayek image had me for a while.

I have a special place for it as soon as I remove the Lowes warehouse from my garage. That or she will park it next door at her father's. Which will put mine in the driveway until I get the garage done.

My present Xfire? Well, if I haven't been clear, I'll try again. I am roadster with a stick. So I'll keep mine, thank you very much.

This one is hers and I will be very good so that once in a while, on a Saturday night, I'll get to take it out and let it munch on 350z's and Mustangs.

Oh yeah.....it's Cathy's, uh huh...... .
The problem is that, once you drive it a few times, the ragtop will feel so, so dull.
Oh, BTW: Mustangs, 350's, a few Porsches, older Vettes, most Beamers, etc., etc. The list is endless!
You're going to have to start a tire fund, trust me, you'll need it!
Hopefully, Cathy will eventually begin thinking that the car "is just to fast for me" & then, my friend, your nefarious plan will have succeeded!

Uh Guys?

It's true. Blew me away. I left work so fast I forgot to log off.

My Cathy is Cruxpyr Femela and since she now owns an SRT, I guess I will have to say nice things about her.

That said, I can't believe I was sitting in my downstairs office while she was reading and posting upstairs in hers. I had given her my password so her knowledge of XFI events was not a surprise to me.

But This Was!

Sneaky Sneaky Sneaky

No way I can get even. No way I'm even going to try.

love ya babe!

roadster with a stick

BTW I was just kidding about the Selma Hayek thing.
