The one that got away
Re: The one that got away
I remember checking out SRTs when I was in the market before buying the Limited. It was in Jersey, not far from me, and it had 50K on the ticker. That and the auto turned me off. The test drive was a blast. Middle of Feb with the top down and scaring the hell out of the dealer guy. He actually wanted to ride with me, most others just gave me the keys.... It was the right color though, graphite metallic

Not trying to restart an old thread, Just a old heart
As we came home from the St Louis GTG yesterday, Cathy started talking about taking the Xfire to Connecticutt....ALONE... to see our grandchldren.
Perhaps it was the results of a day of wine tasting but by later that evening, she was checking them out on E-Bay.
I don't have a problem with her driving the car to CT. I know she will have a good time. Driving the Xfire for 2200 miles, she will be hooked for sure. But I want the car back. Hell, she could stay in CT but I want the car back!
Anyway, with SRT's dipping below $20K I thought I'd use the "automatic trans" tactic. "I'm getting used to the manual" she reponded. And then rather turtly,"I won't hurt your baby, promise." She was challenging me.
Her competitiveness inspired my response,"but with an SRT, you could beat me, easily." Her pupils widened. "Really?" she said and with a poorly disquised and excited inhale, "let's look!"
So I'm on my way again to the dark side. Anyone need a nice '99 Dodge minivan , or a '97 Durango or a first born child?

I blame Cathy for every good thing that has happened in my life.
If she wants to beat me to work in the morning in her own SRT Xfire, wouldn't that be a GOOD thing?

( Think about it. If she is in front, who gets the ticket?)
Uh Huh!

Yes Doc, I would like an SRT. I will pull any devious trick I can to talk her into that option. Shouldn't be hard as the price difference is minimal between '06 or '07 NA and an '05 supercharged.
That said, This will be Cathy's car and therefore her choice of color and model. I would have liked her to get a coupe but she appears to prefer the rag top. In Aero Blue.
Saturday, after the GTG and wine tour, she was all for the idea. Today, Monday, she is cooling off a bit. My worst enemy is our lovely granddaughter who told Cathy that she "likes her minivan better."
Cathy will jump if she thinks she got a steal so I'm working that angle. And, I am keeping the wine cellar full.
The Saga continues

Re: The one that got away
Well, i'm looking again for the SRT.
Cathy has, once more, shown interest in her own XFire. It may be fleeting but, I'm going thru this window again. My desire is for her to get the SRT version so my post today is to ask the question, how much more maintainance costs and other costs are involved with the more complicated engine? Higher HP , does it make insurance cost more?
It will be next quarter before she decides so I have time to find the right car. I would love an SSB coupe but it will be her choice. She is leaning to Black now not the Aero Blue. Something about Mary Kay Pink pin stripes. UGH!
Any advice would be appreciated. Have fun giggin' me if you must.

Re: The one that got away
Now Franc. You know the rules. Before even considering a SRT-6 she will have to pass a stress test, eye exam and sensory overload coordination test. Also a resistance to the drooling jealousy of the opposite sex is recommended. The rest is just money.
She's told you in woman speak that she wants it and is probably wondering how could you be so dense. Remember the lessons of your youth and repeat after me, yes means no, no means yes and maybe means yes.

I feel so much better now.
Actually, she just wants an automatic. I told her the SRT only comes that way. Unless she wants a red or white one, I might just get away with it.

That's funny about the pink stripe. My daughter's black SRT has red accents. Wing, window moldings, rims, mirrors and a small area running up the spine of the hood. Wednesday inbetween drag racing, she was joking with me about accenting her SRT in pink. I think she was partially serious. I was not laughing. I just had some ugly thoughts if I had to drive it. LOL

Cathy sells Mary Kay and wants to use her "Pink Cadillac" allowance ( if she gets one?)to buy the Xfire.
I wonder if I would want to drive it also.

On Wednesday afternoon one of Ashley's XC teammates said that he was with a couple of his friends and the friends were talking about the cool looking black SRT Crossfire with the red rims that was parked upfront in the student dorm parking lot. This guy said he wondered who owned it. Her male teammate said that is was Ashley's from the cross country team. The guy's mouth dropped and he said that no Friggin way that this car belonged to a chick. The teammate started laughing as he was describing Ashley as 5'6", blond, great looking, 2nd degree black belt in TKD and drag races the SRT. He then told him that she was out of his league. Nice to have friends that watch your back.

Right now, her Caddy allowance won't fill the tank. I have some leverage.
She wants a black coupe with pin striping to match the new Mary Kay packaging.
Since I'm trying to get some of the Mary Kay Co-Pack business, it might be a good sales gimmick but I hate to think about defiling a Crossfire.
I have some standards.
Maybe I could use tape?

OMG, I came into the office and Cathy was looking on E-Bay, not for dolls for the grand daughter, Noooooooo! She was looking at Black SRTs.
Somebody pinch me. I think she has the bug.
I showed her the one she missed in Oregon for $16K, I thought she shed a tear. Really!
I sure hope her fever stays high. To bad she wants a black one now. I'm not looking forward to waxing it. But........
Trust me, I'll get over it

Here is another for $24K with 11.5K miles. Black vert.
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=&cardist=2292
and one more black vert. $23.8K with 19K miles.
