Default Maxcool?

MrPhotoman posted this in the scpulley thread and instead of hijacking the thread like I have been doing I'm moving it here.
Anyone have any real experience with this product? I called and left a message, the number went to a cell phone.

Found this one on Jegs, but it's pricey.
Racing Coolers 1315S - Racing Coolers Intake Manifold Cooler

Reducing the intake air temperature increases horsepower and the Racing Cooler can reduce your intake manifold temperature by as much as 15 to 20-degrees. The specially designed fire retardant bag holds sealed gel pouches that can be frozen to quickly remove heat from your intake manifold between rounds and helps maintain a cooler intake during quarter-mile passes. The cooler bag and sealed inserts eliminate the mess and worry of leaking plastic ice bags that can damage critical electronics.

Cowl hood may be required for additional hood clearance. Cooler kit includes one additional gel pack insert for rotation. This cooler remains on the intake during a run using nylon straps secured with D-rings.

240 needs one of these so he doesn't get thrown off the track again.

That second one is way expensive too, curious to see how much it helps tho. Somebody buy it, use it, and post.

I will try mine out soon, I have had it for almost 2 years lol. It will not cool quite as fast as a bag of ice since the area is smaller but it is neater and stays cold longer. I think maxcool sells them for around $35 if I remember correctly.

The case is made very well, it is definately heavy duty. I can take pics of mine if you like.

It does not come with straps but it does have handles so it would take just a few seconds and two 99 cent straps from the hardware store to strap it down. On my old car the hood would hold it in place though.

Here's another way to fool your maf with cold air. I'm surprised no one has tried this yet.

Get cooler air into your intake manifold.
These DEI air intake charge cooler kits have a special bulb with a cryogenic chamber mounted inside a 4 in. long segment of air tube. When charged with liquid CO2, the bulb freezes and chills the air as it passes through the intake, resulting in 35 percent cooler air and more power. The kits include silicone hose connection sleeves, hose clamps for mounting, vent hose, and the intake segment and bulb that will fit your factory or aftermarket air intake.

The cryo unit is not worth it, the tank only lasts about 20 seconds before it is empty and it weighs about 50lbs when it is full so all that weight is not good. Also, if your car sucks in any of that C02 when it is vented out the front (and it will) there goes any extra power you would have made. You can get another brand on ebay for under $200 and it contains the entire kit not just the intake bulb as you have priced above. (also, it is not "fooling" your maf with cool air, it actually is cooler air that the maf is reading lol)

Here is the price/order form for the maxcool, it is $34.95:

Thanks the advertisement sounds like you just charge up the bulb externally with the hose before a run. 20 seconds is not good enough for the staging lanes. It will be gone before finish your burnout. Back to the ice.

You need the 10lb tank kit to go with the intake bulb so it will run you close to $500 for 20 seconds of spray to get "ice" in the bulb lol. Not worth it at all. Also, that co2 vents out the front so as soon as you press the gas pedal it sucks it in your intake and then it starves your car for oxygen and kills your power.

the cheapest way is to get the maxcool for $35 or you can get a bag of ice.

Heck you may want to even get the sheets of gel and cut it to wrap around your CAI. You can get a sheet for around $5.00. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=020

The gel packs on the maxcool have foil jackets though so they do not melt on your intake like the plastic jacketed gel packs would.

That maxicool thing would be nice if it is only $35. No watery mess and reusable. The funny thing is I iced my car down for an hour on friday night and ran my fastest time/trap speed when I hot lapped the car. Maybe it was too cold on the first pass?

I'm planning on running a 35 shot of nitrous to keep my IAT's down and the car consistant during the summer heat wave. Nothing comes close as far as bringing down IAT's plus you get proven WHP. Just my 2cent's.

I was thinking about a small shot as well, that would definately cool it down! Let me know how it does for you.
