Enjoying SRT6 so much thinking about selling other cars
Hello All,
I'm posting here because I know you guys love your SRT6 as much as I do. I can't wait for the next race to have more fun and pretty much forgot about my other cars. As you see in my sig, I have 5 older cars. My 68' shortbed is completely done and I drive it maybe once every few months. My 55' Belair needs a complete restore (just lucky I found original CA car), My 67' camaro is original but needs restore as well, runs, but thats it (drove once since I bought over a year ago). My 65' Rambler Marlin (very rare) is all there and I did drive a few years ago, but haven't in at least 2 years. My 63' Nova has too much sentimental value to sell so I'm keeping (owned 13 years). I was thinking of selling off the marlin, belair, camaro, truck in that order if I get what I want. I don't have to sell and have been looking into buying a metal building to store them in. Right now they are only under car covers outside. My SRT6 is in the garage. I bought these cars except the rambler, because I made a list of collector cars I'd like to own and bought them at opportune times. I'm not one to send my cars in to a shop, I like to do as much as possible except for the finish bodywork and paint. I'm too busy working, but don't mind waiting until it happens on each car. I also said I would never sell my cars like my dad did. He had too many to count.
So I ask you guys to weigh in, should I sell or sit on them? What would you do?

You're enjoying your SRT for now. That's great. Maybe you can add it to your collection, eventually. If you have the room I would keep them. If you put them on you list, there's a reason for it. You may regret selling them down the road, although I'd love to buy the Camaro from you.
I hope you find the time to restore them.

Re: Enjoying SRT6 so much thinking about selling other cars
Some cars do hold sentimental value, for whatever reason. My 93 RX7 is in the process of a ground up overhaul. I have tried to sell it twice, was offered what I wanted for it but when it came down to it I could not sell it. To make it the way I want will take about 15k. Don't care if will ever be a collector car just can't sell it. So I understand your issue. If you have the space and don't need the money I would just hold on to them.

Thanks guys I appreciate the responses.
FP, There's just something about the camaro. I'm actually going to fix it up for my daughter if she works hard in school. Then I'll enjoy it after she leaves for college.
REVIT93RX7, my truck is also pretty special to me. I built it for my dad 2 1/2 years back. We bought it about 6 years ago and my dad's health started to go, so I made it a priority and finished it. He has alzheimers and doesn't drive anymore. So it's kind of hard to look at the truck and not feel a little sad each time. Selling it is not going to be easy, but part of the healing process for me when that day comes.

I say sell'em if they are just sitting around under cover, enjoyment for me after having lots of collectable Mustangs and Benzs is all about driving them as much as I could weekends or to shows but mostly just driving. That's what they were built for and it's nice to gaze at cars that you really like the looks of but to just store under a cover and never drive ! I won't do that. I'd rather have one nice 1 I drive.

I know what you mean about sentimental value. I've had my '65 Chevelle for nearly 17 years.
If I were you, I'd definitely keep the '55 Chevy. That is by far my favorite year of Chevy. You will kick yourself if you sell it. Nicely done, those cars fetch huge money and are getting to be very rare finds.

Re: Enjoying SRT6 so much thinking about selling other cars
Thanks for your repsponse. I guess if I ever reach a point that I have to sell them, then it won't be so hard. Everything else I buy, I'll sell if someone offers me a nice profit. I turn down at least an offer each week on the camaro and the fifty five. The truck and nova can't be seen from the front of the property, so no one knows about them. The most I've been offered was $9,000 for the camaro which is a fair offer. The 55' I don't even entertain any offers. I have a stack of numbers that people leave in case I wan't to sell. They are probably just like me when I see an old car parked somewhere, I can't help but stop and see if it's for sale. My uncle has a 55' chevy that I'm waiting for him to retire it. It actually was my dads back in 1959, it's the only car kept that he owned. He gave it to my uncle way back in the 60's and my uncle never would sell except to me when he's ready. It's a post though, but it's still a 2dr. It's in very, very good shape. That one I'll even trade my crossfire for, it's got to stay in the family.
SRTdan, I actually was looking at the NSX, and the aero 911 before I bought the crossfire. Most I found were modded with higher miles. Wasn't comfortable enough to buy, but I love the shape. Wish they come out with a new twin turbo one to compete with nissan.

Re: Enjoying SRT6 so much thinking about selling other cars
That sounds like a good idea. It's taking about $20k to finish each one up, and that's we me stripping the cars and re-assembling them. The chrome on the 55' is a mint. I'm putting disc brakes on the truck and should wrap that up. It always seems like I can do them for less, but by the time you buy the last emblem and window felt it adds up real quick. A $5k paint job with all the body interior and exterior is not very easy to find. That leaves $15k for a donor car, engine, parts, plus got have the bling rims. It doesn't stretch like it used to.
