Default Factory wheel idea

I was thinking about doing something many of my M/C buddies do. What about polishing the stock SRT wheel rims. Yes, the rim, edge, or lip of the wheel. I wonder how that would look? I would use aircraft stripper, emery cloth (many different levels), and finally a polishing compound and pad. I wish I could photo shop! It would look nearly the same, but with polished lips.

I think after stripping all you need is some good polishing compound ! And alot of elbow grease ! Most polishing places would charge about $100 a wheel at least.

Do it! IMHO, these wheels are already beautiful. It sounds like a mod better fit for the limited/base wheels. But, give her a try and show us the results.

I have done this on several cars wheels and the easiest way for me was to use a good size hand buffer 7" and mount the wheels on the front of the car. Lift the car on a floor jack or lift and buff the wheel as it turns. Don't need the emery paper, just buffer and a bit of water to keep the rubbing compound from glazing. Woody

Each to his own, but I really like the stock wheels. I get a lot of complements on my car, and they almost always include a positive remark about the wheels. But, as always, it is interesting to hear other ideas and thoughts.

I like this idea, but how to you get the clear coat off without taking the tires off the wheels? I would think Aircraft stripper would damage the tire...

Apply a thick coat of silicone grease to the tire, being careful not to get any on the wheel. The grease will protect the tire from the stripper. After, detergent and water removes the grease.

Any way, just an idea. Wanted to see what you guys thought.
