What sort of problems have you had with your SRT6?
Let's see the ones I can remember are: drivers side heated seat broke, paint coming off roof, interior door handle replaced due to chrome coming off, passenger seat motor quit working, drivers side stiching came apart, etc.

Just pathetic if you ask me. This is not a KIA.

27,000 miles of hard driving and it's never been in the shop one time for anything. Of course, now that I've said this, it will probably blow up on my way home Knock on wood.

Don't know why your gas mileage is so bad. I always get 21 or better. Maybe you aren't driving it hard enough

Yikes, you must have ended up with a Friday 5 o' clock model ! Mine has 13k miles on it and it's been in the shop once for a faulty seatbelt alarm. German cars have been known to have electrical issues, but the engines and drive train are usually indestructible. The seat heater issue is common and should have been addressed by Chrysler and Mercedes a long time ago with a recall. The paint and chrome issue is a new one. That is very strange.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I think I'm going to have to test drive one to help make my decision.

Surprisingly, I already got the approval from the wife, that's usually the hardest part for me, lol.

If you want performance keep the GTO, it has a LS motor that can made much faster for cheap. Add a solid rear axle and a blower and run 11's all day long.

I used to have an SRT-4 and feel that the SRT team makes an excellent product.

Would you mind giving me your thoughts between the two? I'm 6'0 / 180lb and I'm kinda worried the car will be too small for me. I commute to work about 20 miles each way.

Let me know if any of you have any experience with the two vehicles.

I'm no fan of the GTO. But if you ever watch The Speed Channal, they sometimes show Australian road races, where Holdens and Falcons do battle on a regular basis. Now even though these are race prepared cars, the GTO was based on the Holden platform, so if you want to make it handle better, there are probably any number of ways of doing it.
But when the Crossfire handles so good right off the show room floor, why bother?
Mr2Turbo, I'm 6'2" and 215lbs. and I've spent over 12 hours straight in my Crossfire's saddle, and never got out of my car feeling sore. It fits me like a glove.

If the small interior size is a big concern for you, don't get it. On the other hand, if you've had any small two seater for a time and adapted, the SRT-6 will feel very comfortable.

Some people get small two seaters, and find the dimensions make them feel more connected to the cars and the road. Larger people with that outlook have happily squeezed themselves into smaller cars. But some people never do and just find them claustrophobic. Your gut tells you which camp you fall into.

If you're in the second group, don't talk yourself into anything. It won't get any bigger the longer you own it.

Well, I just bought an SRT-6 and my dad has an '05 GTO 6 speed. The SRT seems just as quick, handles worlds better (the only other car I've driven that was as flat as the SRT through the corners was a Ford GT). The GTO's seats are better IMO, but the SRT wins on creature comforts/safety (dual zone HVAC, heated seats, Homelink, NAV, stability control, side airbags,BAS, TPMS). If you need more than 2 seats though there is only one answer...

Both cars have waay too expensive oil changes...

Some corrections:
Nav - worthless
Cup holder - worthless
Expensive oil changes - Grab some tools, get a little dirty, do it yourself, and it's not that expensive.

Ehhh, the nav seems like it could get me home from a not too familiar place. I never would have paid the original price for it though.

I agree with the cupholder: GTO>SRT-6

Oil: I understand why a 6.0L V8 needs 7 quarts, but why does an engine half that size need 1.5 Q more? Stupid design IMO. I will be changing my own, but still it will cost signifacantly more than a normal car.

Here's a few more things to add: The GTO has twice as many 12V outlets (2). The SRT-6 key is easier to carry than the brick the GTO comes with (anyone who has driven a GTO can relate).
