hey those look cool, but can you make a triple pod that fits somewhere near the gauge cluster, or directly over the window defroster vent?

That is what I am trying to do and that is about the going rate for that fabric with the foam backing. The problem is that there is not a catalog available that has the exact color. Sure you can get the EXACT headliner fabric material but the color is just slightly off, regardless if your order through Mercedes or Chrysler. If you look at the pictures you can see it says Mercedes headliner.

Its weird I am going to contact that ebay company, they obviously just took a picture of the inside of a crossfire, but That color looks more like the alpine grey, then what we have. I had the alpine grey in the car and it was really I mean really tough to tell with all the shadows against the actual headliner fabric, but when you pulled the actual pillar ( I KNOW ITS paint and slightly more tope then the fabric) it was way off as you can see from the pictures. look at the before and afters the afters look more like the alpine gray

The give away on why I think it is either ash or alpine gray is look at the visor compared to the headliner close but not the same..

As far as I know I am probably going to be the first to have this installed just to make sure everything goes as planned. I would never ship them out with out making sure it looked good in my own car. Lets wait till the other fabric samples get here and we will go from there. Sorry guys this adds about a two weeks to the finish date but I think it is necessary.

personally I don't like the dark color pillar (primmer) against the headliner doesn't flow at all.

are referring to a frogs eye pillar ? more like a rainbow with gauges on either side of the cluster, or tucked up against the window? I don't know how that would look, or if it would even be possible to tuck 3 gauges back there. Standard gauge pod size is a little under 3 inches tall, As you can see I cut those pods as close as I could to make this look less bulky.

Anyway one project at a time but If people want them sure I'm game for anything.

So google yielded the following results... http://www.headlinerexpress.com They have a Crossfire link. I bet you'd be able to call him up. Their number is 407-786-4090. Also, it doesn't look like they just shot a pic of the stock XF headliner but actually replaced it. As far as matching, if anything comes closer than that, I'd say you tore it out of a brand new car at the dealership!

thanks for your help rcompart, but that is the same company as posted above and through ebay.

I reread my last posts maybe I wasn't clear, the problem isnt getting the fabric the problem is the color. AS far as I know IT isn't possible to get this color fabric. The guy at the shop assured me if he didn't have the book with it in it, it was not available to buy in bulk, all of his books are up to 2008, there was probably 75 of them every car you can think of, hell even peygeot interior fabric.

Bottom line is this company either has a ton of bulk that was previously released not mentioned in any car interior catalog, or they are replacing the headliner material and selling headliner material that is CLOSE in color to OE (alpine gray or Ash gray), through the Mercedes interior Cat. Mercedes is the only book that had that texture headliner, Chrysler wasn't even close.

I will give them a call tomorrow to see if they will send me a sample but I am pretty sure this will be the case.

I would check with them and see if they will send you a sample piece to put against your headliner. I wouldn't be surprised if you are right but it just seems way to weird for them to be charging that much for something if it wasn't a match. Heres the other thing, If it is close enough to the pillar panels in color and no one is complaining about it, it would probably be that close the other way around. Just a though. If you want, I will take the plunge and buy some and let you know what I think.

Maybe instead of trying to match it to the headliner, you can match it to the gray dash. Texture it and make it look like a continuation. Just a thought.

I personally love my boost gauge sitting on the steering column in my GTI. Here's what I have now and wonder if it will fit our Xfires.....

I'm with you, what is being done right now is the right direction. Just need to figure that pesky upholstering issue...what fabric/cloth/vinyl to use

That is a really good idea I will look when I go back there once the samples are in.

I called and left a message for headliner express should get back to me later today, I guess the question is do we want to spend 80 dollars a yard for fabric ? I don't know how many pairs I could have covered for that but jeeze that is a lot of money.

If you can get 2 pairs of pillars covered(4 total) per yard thats only $40 more per set. Not bad if it looks really good. Hopefully you can get at least that many from a yard.

Just got off the phone with bill from headlinnersexpress GREAT guy we talked for almost 30 min, very smart when it comes to this kinda stuff, I learned a lot, bottom line he is sending me multiple samples and is also taking a look at the interior and pillar from the pictures I sent, He is going to see what he thinks would look best and send those samples as well. I was kinda down and out yesterday after seeing the samples not matching he assured me not to worry I was looking at them wrong.

Just wondering if there is anything new on the development of the pillar?

If you live in MN or WI and are around tomorrow for the meet or whenever I would be more then happy to show anyone in person. People at the meet for sure will check it out tomorrow and voice there opinions on here I am sure. Another update on fabric, I am still waiting on the for them to come in from both places

still waiting on fabric, need the ok before we take this to the next step because budget wise there will be no turning back. The black is a little misleading its hard to see all the angles from the pic, Everyone at the MN meet loved it I am sure you guys will too. Here are the pics Sonoronos took at the meet of my engine and pod looks good. https://www.crossfireforum.org/galle...hp/photo/18856
