Alright I suppose lol The PVA and PARTELL #10, along with gel coat should be here shortly, THIS IS STILL KINDA ROUGH, finished product will resemble this. It’s taking forever this is like mold number 15, you guys were right the last one was tweaked alittle I PROMISE you this one is the best I have done yet. Anyway I have all this week off so it should be finished soon. I can not make the gel coat mold until this is perfect, but as soon as the supplies come I can get a start on it. Build cost is rising but I promise you these will be worth it. Hope this appeases the masses.

As far as finish goes, those who want to save some money can just keep these the way they are (gel coated fiber) and do what they want with them (paint, cover, leave shinny gel coat). Those who want to match the interior fabric, two options headliner fabric or black suede. There is now a third option, paint to match exterior paint. Whatever you choose can be arranged I will figure out price once it’s done. depending on finish you guys may be responsible for drilling your own holes, reason being is I can do it with a two inch hole saw, but you guys still have to shave a 16th off for the gauges to seat tight.

Hope you guys are as excited as I am !!

JA -

Please PM me your address - I would like to pitch in and help re-imburse for some of the NRE you have been expending.

BTW - the Pod does look really good...I may need to find a third gauge

Nice work, you are one talented SRT6 owner. As a former old school car stereo installer, I can appreciate all the steps it takes to get to this point. Guys this is like $2k worth of r&d labor by the time you get the finished product. You have inspired me to design a fiberglass center console for my nova.

Its Jonathan.Lilienthal@uwrf.edu, I wouldn’t worry about it guys, I am doing this just to help anyone out who was willing to take a chance. To be completely honest with you guys it’s nice to see that parts of this forum are still thriving. It means more to me that 10 guys would be willing to send more then $500 dollars to someone they do not know or have not met for an idea. I have no intentions of making money off of these first 10 pillar pods, If more people want them I might charge a few extra dollars maybe throw one or two of them on ebay, I don’t know you guys might be the only ones who want them. Anything I make from future fiberglass projects will probably just go to the cost of the gauges, a case of beer, maybe a round or two of golf and school lol. All I know is because of this project the fiberglass mod bug has bitten again harder then ever, I am only taking one class this summer semester so as soon as this is done, I might work on a single and a double pod, maybe some nice completely molded eyebrows, rear fascias, a sub box (I have had brand new subs and an amp that were supposed to go in the last Xfire for 2 years now), the options are endless its just nice to help people out if they like it cool if not oh well. My main focus isnt making money its trying to keep this under $100 dollars, I had no idea what paint cost or fabric they don’t mess around.

Here are the rest of the pics, This again is still pretty rough the only reason I painted it with some cheap primmer is so you can see the sharpness of it, It was hard to see it with jus the bondo and resin, sanding is not nearly complete. Also if you wonder why the top looks so bad lol It got dropped I almost $hit myself but that was all the damage that was done, It can be easily fixed.

Thanks for your kind words glade I got a few people back in the game, I had a buddy just do a console for his Impala SS, I takes a lot of time but the benefits are unreal, nothing IMO looks better then a nice smooth painted console.

Is there still room to get in the buy? I agree the paint finish mirrors any custom paint job you can imagine.

Im liking the end result thus far, as other have said LMK if you need more funds.

Dont beat yourself up too much with how to cover the final piece to make it look stock. If its easy/simple to cover in fabric great do it, if not a nicely finished black gelcoated piece wont bother me either.

This weekend i took a date out and she asked me if my car was broke when she saw the removed pillar and bare metal. LOL, i love it.

While I'm not going to sit here and tell you what to do jonny, I can't help be a little irritated by the johny come latelys trying to jump in now that the finished product is looking good. The original ten took a chance and while I know your time and experience warrants more than our small investment, the point is we invested on trust. Now some people that were around when this thread originially started saying they wanted a pod are coming back after we asked for donations for R&D a long time ago. I may sound bitter , but I think thats not fair to the original ten.

The original 10 should be first to recieve the final product. After the original 10, if Jonny wants to make more, then he will. If not, then people are SOL. I think that is what Jonny was saying, no?

I agree what it is going to come down to is what you guys want to pay, If these end up costing $150- $200 for ten completely finished pairs of pillars, I think you guys should allow some more people in on the buy just to drive the price down. I am serious when I say for the group buy I am only charging whatever they cost me, for the sole reason of yeah every one of you took a chance I agree. I have been getting some PM's about this same topic I have told them the same thing, bottom line this would not have even happened if it weren’t for the original ten. lol we might still be jumping the gun alittle, I still have to hope the gel coat sets up and releases, if not its START OVER. lol no matter how good I am I am never one to count his chickens before they hatch.

Although I might be counting a little early I am going to order the fabric today.

well I have kinda bad new chyrsler and mercedes kinda SCREWED US ALL the auto upholstery shop, who has every sample of fabric up to date, has no record of the crossfire anywhere "GREAT". I looked through every book he had I was there for 2 hours and as far as Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Mercedes goes, there is nothing that matches perfectly the color and the texture. They're two that are close and then there is one I found in a Subaru book that was the same color and close to the texture. Anyway here are the crappy pics of the ones closest. I found the Subaru one after my phone died so no pic. Where do we go from here? I have ordered larger samples just to make sure but I don't think close to the color is gonna cut it.

Just a couple of thoughts if we CAN'T get a match.
1. Use the close Alpine Grey as a transition between the roof light color and the dark greay of the dash.
2. Match the dark grey of the dash and have the transition at the roof instead of the dash.
I think the light roof to Alpine Grey to dark grey might look pretty good. What do you guys think? Other options?

Another option is to use the OEM headliner material and wrap them in that. That is what I was going to do. It's about $75 a square yard and it obviously will match what is in our cars now as it is what they came with. Let me know if you guys want to get some.

I still vote to do what looks best. If I have to pay $155 to cover this, but it will look OEM, thats what I want to do. Why would you 1/2 @ss a custom piece like that? I'm sure we could get a discount for the amount we need.

To me, its worth the extra $ to look GREAT rather than good...
