Default First Car - Smokey847

Today, my dad and I headed over to Franklin to finally test drive an SRT-6. As some of you know, I have been stuck between the SRT and a G35. Well, turns out that he made an offer, and I am now a proud first car owner of an SRT-6. It's a black coupe with 8,600 miles. The selling point for my dad was that it has over a year of factory warranty remaining. I can describe the 50 mile drive home in only one word: Wow! This thing is a beast and a blast to drive. It goes like nothing. After discovering the kick-down switch while the car was turned off, I am unsure how anyone can be brave enough to flatten the throttle enough to reach that destination. I absolutely love the car. I got a look from almost every car that I passed.

One question:

Would you recommend doing the throttle reset? I didn't really notice any lag or anything. The car seemed to shift pretty positively. Nevertheless, should I?

It is a pretty nice sense of security to know that there is such a supportive forum here to help with anything! Thanks guys and gals.

Oh yeah. Question numero uno:

Ok. So I know this has been discussed SO MANY times, but has anyone successfully gotten their car to 'chirp' when they lock it? Please don't refer me to another thread.

I will definately have photos coming soon. Thanks everyone for all of the information I have absorbed regarding our cars over the years.

One favor:

I would really appreciate it if everyone could please keep their comments in reference to fast cars and young drivers to themselves. I am aware of the risks. Thanks.

Hope your dad had them throw in the 8yr/80,000 mile certified pre-owned warranty!! That should be standard, but just about any dealer will throw it in for free to sell a Crossfire.

YOU ARE SOOO YOUNG and this car is SOOOOO FAST!!!! don't die or kill anyone now that you have it!!!

^^^ =) just joking...
Congrats on the new buy and hope you will have all the fun this car comes with even stock ... safe fun of course...
The chirp... i have a project in mind... it was kinda my idea... everytime you lock or unlock the car, the trunk lock is the one you can hear making a little noise so there is obviously power going through the wire. I wanna tap into the wire and add a little speaker that makes a sound on the same frequency while there is power. I don't wanna make a mess in my trunk so I am still thinking of a nice way of doing it... other than my idea I haven't found anything that will make this car chirp when locked...

There's an ongoing thread from a person that added a Radio Shack buzzer or something to the lock circuit to make a noise. I'm waiting for specifics...

By the way, Nice choice!

Thirteen, I haven't seen you posting in a while, so i figured you had finally sold your SRT. Or do you still have it? My grandma has been moving all day today, so I have had to be away from it all day. It has almost killed me. lol. I begged to go pick it up, but it's kind of inconvenient when all you have is your learner's. It still amazes me how I haven't seen your SRT in town. Any idea of how many Crossfires there are here?

Quiet a car you got for a first car!!! Make sure you ease into it as even though it is a very easy car to drive it can bite... it is non-communicative of it's handling limits so you will have to learn it on your own.. for now don't take corners to quickly..

The throttle reset can't hurt and I do it periodically so why not?

as for the chirp it can't be done on the stock set up, but stop by at a high rated tuning shop and they will make it happen... but at a price of course...

Anyways good luck with the car and go get yourself some girls with it heh...

Thanks everyone. So far I am loving the car; however, there is a rattle I hear while in motion towards the rear of the car. This may be the rear hatch rattle that I have seen discussed but haven't had a chance to research...

My only other gripe is that there is another rattle (I know. I have issues) coming from the passenger door (possibly the tweeter) when I crank the stereo up. I have posted a thread in the appropriate section; if you have any suggestions or have had similar issues, please check the thread out in the "Audio" section.

One question:

Luggage? I am pretty sure my car is only a 1 owner. It only has about 8,700 miles on it and has over a year left of warranty. Is there any way that I would be eligible for the SRT luggage?

P.S.

Is there anything that I haven't done already that I should do to preface driving the car? Everything seems fine, but I know there is a procedure you should take almost for anything. Thanks again!

I can spin my tires when mashing on it from 0-55MPH, and maybe once or twice it has made a high pitched sound. It does make a "whirring' sound as I waste $800 in rear tires. It does flash the traction light violently and occasionally it will shut down my throttle. I suspect the super-soft compound used in the Pilots is what causes te absence of sound? Can anyone confirm/deny/elaborate?

No Luggage for you...

I suggest an Oil change... also check for rust under the door panels and the srt wing...

Smokey, I got rid of my SRT back on August 23rd of last year... :-( Which was the second biggest mistake I've ever made. My first was getting rid of the Limited for an SRT. No offense guy's I just liked my limited more. Congrat's Smokey, and I sent you a PM.
