Default Ellusive 2006 SRT-6's

I was just updating a little info on the wiki page:
http://wikicars.org/en/Chrysler_Cros...es_and_Options

And when it came to info on those rare 2006 SRT-6's I'm pretty much at a loss. Does anyone have any confirmed info on them? Rumor has it that there were 12 produced, and that they went mainly to the European market, and to special customers, such as Daimler-Chrysler execs.

Does anyone know if that's true? I found 1 for sale on AutoTrader.com. It's a black roadster with a VIN of 1C3AN75N76X064169. I can't see anything special about it's paint, and it appears normal in every other way. Anyone close to it wanna go check it out? It's in Roanoke, VA.

I know one of the forum members has one, Andy G, I think. Anyone else???

there were superficial exterior changes like paint matching of strakes and windshield trim.

they had the car in display in LA Auto show.

I believe that Andy G's 2006 SRT-6 has different SRT badges than the 2005 US models. I think he said at one point that his had been owned by a UK Chrysler exec. I'll have to PM him and get the scoop. He also mentioned in an email to me that his was one of _13_ 2006 SRT's. So it might not be 12.

Also, I noticed his has a couple badge differences. See attached pics. And his paint is not the normal Aero Blue.

Hi, This is my first post to the web site and I am the proud owner of an ellusive SRT 2006 roadster conv. I purchased it last May from the owner of the local Chyrsler dealership. He thinks it is a rare car that came from Europe via the port of Halifax N.S. He thinks there was only a couple that where sold in Canada. The serial number is 1c3an75nx6o68183 I live in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada.
Looking forward to this post.

Hi inge,
Congrats on your find & Welcome Officially to the Forum with your first post!
What color is your Roadster, & does it have SRT6 Badges on the side fenders?
My Best,

Thumbs up Re: Ellusive 2006 SRT-6's

Here's some Very Interesting Background Info on another 2006 SSB SRT6 Roadster in the US:

"Bill,
The build sheet has the car being ordered for the Marketing/PR department at Chrysler Headquarters. The VIP sheet from the Chrysler Dealer indicates it was assigned to an individual named Carrie McElwee at Chrysler. An internet search uncovered that Carrie McElwee is Public Relations Manager for Chrysler Corporation...here in Auburn Hills. She still is. I was able to obtain her e-mail and contacted her to find out more about what the car was used for at Chrysler. I was surprized she responded. She told me that the car was made available for photos...display and for magazine editors to drive and (hopefully) write articles about. It was used for PR purposes.
I thought it was an interesting background...
Regards"

edit the power rating to the c32 and slk32 numbers because 330 hp is a lie!!!

good job updating it though.

Note that Chrysler told me that the US 2006 SRT6s were 'test mules' and were not supposed to be sold.
The exact date that I received this info can be found in the SRT6 Serial Number thread.

Hi Guys

Well there do seem to be a few differences, mainly in the badging. The UK spec 2006 has the SRT 6 logos as seen in the pics but there is no rear logo denoting SRT 6. However, at the rear you do have the Chrysler moniker, which seems absent from US spec models. Not sure about the difference in the Aero Blue. May just be down to photshop enhancement.

Headlights are also different as they have an electronically adjustable levelling device. This is pretty useless as it hardly varies the beam height at all but it does mean there is no manual adjuster on the headlight assembly for height.

There is also no cut off switch for the passenger airbag. In US models this is beside the ashtray. There was no free luggage deal for the UK on new purchases. I think those are all the differences...oh wait, I forgot one. The steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Thanks Andy for stopping in. I always like info straight from the source. Do you know who owned it before you? Or did you buy it new?

Inge:
How many miles were on it when you bought it? Was it sold as "new" with full warranty? Did it come with navigation? Did it come with high perfomance tires or all seasons?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi team,

Andy G's srt sounds identical to mine - my spec "srt" badges above the strakes (no rear SRT badge), Chrysler on left rear quater, Crossfire across the rear centre hatch headlight adjustment and passenger air bag as per Andy G's. Colour - SSB, and it is a Roadster. purchased brand new Xmas 2007.

RPM has told me to check the 10th digit in the VIN - did this and IT IS A 2006 BUILD !!!

Keep searching gentlemen, only 12 more to find.

The srt I purchased last May had 4,000 miles and it currently sits in storage with 8,000 miles. It was sold as a brand new vechicle never registered as the owner of the chyrsler dealership wife high drove it the first summer with dealer plates. It does not have navagation and has Continental high performance tires that will be coming off as I hate them. I did not realize that there was so few 2006 roadster conv produced. It leads me to believe that if I keep the mileage down that it could be worth a few bucks i the future.
I paid the dealer cost as i am friends with the guy who owns the dealership.

Ouch. This is one rare case where "dealer cost" could be a very bad thing. These things were being discounted 50% off sticker here in the US.

I think you are talking about Crossfires in general that are reduced by 50% across the U.S. I doubt you could find 1 of 12 cars manufactured in 2006 that would be reduced by 50% especially a SRT6 Roadster Convertible.

I just saw a 2006 USA dealer Crossfire brochure and it showed the same SRT6 badge on the side ! Didn't see the any rear pictures. The 2006s where advertised in the Chrysler brochures but, later discontinued ! Because of poor sales on Crossfires. These cars are most likely just left over '05s and never intended for sale ! I think all were stored or sold as Chrysler executive or Factory owned cars !
As far as being worth more because they were '06s I don't think it makes much difference just like the Stock LTD '08s aren't worth more ! YET maybe in 10-20 years who knows.

Nope. I bought my 2005 SRT6 Vert for 50% off sticker with only 3k miles.
