Horrible day at the track!!!
Horrible day at the track!!!
I was competing in the street car class at Import Face Off. Got there bolted up my 17x9 VOXX with Bias ply ET Streets 17x11.5. Go to roll to staging lanes, click, click click. The lug bolts DTD sent me were too long. They were shorter than stock but just slightly too long and rubbing something in the brake assembly, nobody had spacers. Ok, so now I have to run on 300TW all seasons against people with slicks and drag radials, I'm screwed.
First pass, no way around water box, damn!, do a slight burn out, clean the tires one last time before the line. Taraction control off, cutout switch in hand ready to be opened once I get off the line. Launch at 1k, car begins fish tailing to about the 330 mark where I almost hit the wall. I let out and dropped the cutout switch, regained traction and pulled a 15.7 at 104. It was kinda scary. The track prep was horrible! The temps were in the mid 70's and the temp gauge on my car was reading 95. I spent most of the day in the pits waiting because several cars blew up and sprayed oil down the track. After that first pass I decided to just leave the TC on. It kept me from going into the wall, but it killed my times, going off like crazy. I managed to run two 13.5@107, launching at idle with the cutouts closed and opening after I left, spinning, TC kicking in like crazy. Slips look like this
60'.....2.695
330....7.758
1/8....10.992
MPH...78.85
1000..13.600
1/4....15.742
MPH...104.25
60'.....2.3.69
330....6.071
1/8....8.970
MPH...84.98
1000..11.445
1/4....13.511
MPH...107.42
A bike got loose and took out all the sensors in the middle of the track before this run
60'.....2.367
330....5.792
1/8....
MPH...
1000..
1/4....13.551.
MPH...107.21
I might go back in a couple weeks with some spacers, mid 12's should be feasable with traction and hopefully cooler temps.

Hope you get the Drag Radials figured out. Those are some seriously wide tires. Traction should ot be a problem with those, just be carefull not to break anything.
Re: Horrible day at the track!!!
Don't take this the wrong way but................I'm glad somebody else has a shitty prepped track to race on. I thought LVMS was the only one in the nation for a while there.
Get some spacers; check that they clear everything before you go to the track again, and throw those DRs on for some good times.

Yeah I should have test fitted them yesterday, but I was too busy. I also forgot my helmet, but they never said anything. I was hoping to get kicked off Heres the wheels and ET streets that could have made it happen.
Re: Horrible day at the track!!!
Geez and I'm complaining about my car not running right. My worst time yesterday was a 13.405, and my best was 13.22. I was bummed because I got so used to running in the 12's like so easy. Even when I had just the needswings intake and stock tires. The track was horrible last night, but my car still didn't feel like normal.
About the click click click, I'm sure you bent up the ebrake cable holder. It's like $20 bucks at the dealer and pretty easy to replace. It's the only thing your lugs will hit, if they go in too far they wouldn't have turned. I was just as anxious my first time out as well. Better luck and feel next time. We all have to tame the same beast.

Nothing broke as far as I can tell, no sound once I put the stockies back on? Something must have been touching, somewhere ever so slightly. My friend said something about the ABS plate? Sorry to hear your misfortune as well. I think these cars are very sensitive to temps, we've had a mid winter warm up this week with temps in the 80's. Even still I should have been able to pull a mid 12 with traction. The car will probally be a dog in the summer when it hits 90-100 with 100%humidity. Like I said my temp gauge was reading 95 degrees. You can definitley tell the difference in power when it's 40 outside compared to 70 or above. Guess I just need to go get a kit and drop a 35 shot on it just to cool things down.
Re: Horrible day at the track!!!
Mine didn't make a sound either after I put the stocks back on. I would just remove the caliper and rotor just to make sure, pretty easy to do. Like 2 bolts hold the caliper and one torx holds the rotor. I tried 20mm spacers and they cleared but my wheels would clunk on a turn, so I went down to 15mm spacers and solved the problem. Still have the 20 mm spacers if that's the size you need.

Re: Horrible day at the track!!!
I haven't taken the wheels off yet, but the ebrake still works as far as I can tell.
I was on continentals not Ps2's. The Contis have a 300 treadware, what do the Ps2's have?
I found a pic of me staging against a bad *** supra. He was trapping around 135, but he too was experiencing traction problems, even on ET Street radials. I think he managed an 11.7@133 for his best ET that I saw. It was funny cause he was trapping low 120's in qualifying, then when I raced him in eliminations he must have upped the boost quite a bit to trap 135. I think a 1st gen Talon on DOT slicks won, running low 10's. Other than my bad experience it was a pretty good event. A lot of my friends trophied in the show portion. Some pics

Re: Horrible day at the track!!!
Keep running those high 15's and I'm going to meet you at the track with my corolla for pinks.
I'd want to shoot myself if I ever ran a 15 in an srt6, LOL. "Horrible" is a gross understatement. Just messing man, but I have to admit that 15 is totaly shocking regardless of conditions.
