Default question about the doors

on my srt6 when the windows are down and you close the door, it makes a louder more shattering sound then if the windows were to be closed, is this normal or should i take it into service?? would they be able to get rid of that annoying shutting sound?

A shattering sound, like glass? Or do you mean shuddering sound? If you mean a vibration, there shouldn't be any vibrating sounds coming from the door, window up or down. If the car was previously wrecked there could be broken door internals, or a pile of a previously broken window glass at the bottom of the door.

oh no the car is in brand new condition, its just that the door makes a different sound when closing when the windos is up and when the window is down, up = quiet and clean down = loud and annoying...same with my brothers crossfire.

I saw someone who said the window motor comes loose and causes this noise.

I'd have it looked at.

I would also search the forum for 'door noise' and see what you come up with. I think it is a fairly common problem (look in the Coupe forum...)

The reason it is louder when the windows are rolled down is because you are no longer compressing the cabin as the doors are closing. Although there are the little vents hidden underneath the rear (or front i dont remember) quarterpanels to prevent creating a sudden high pressure situation (or something), there is still a split second of compression when you close the doors with the windows up that softens the blow of the door hitting the car. Windows down means the air is free to escape so it closes faster and easier to slam the door.

Second ShawnQ's diagnosis - there is a real fix for this issue.

Been there, done that. Track hardware comes loose and is easily fixed. However, when they do this, it is quite common for them to screw up the interior door latch (youcan't open the door from inside ).

There has been a few recent posts about this. Just search.

There is a loose window regulator, take it in for service, I belive there is a TSB on it... I have had a similar issue and was fixed very quickly..
