You write your side of the story, the officer has to submit a written declaration of his side (without reading yours) and the judge reads them both and makes a decision. If the officer does not respond in 30 days of his being served noticed.. Case Dismissed - most officers are to busy to remember and write another report at the end of their day.

In Ca if you are found guilty - you still have 20 days to request a trial by judge, yet another opportunity for a no-show by the officer or for you to plead to a lesser charge and request school and reduced points.

Work the system - that's what it's there for. And good luck.
that sounds awesome, I will definatly inquire about this..

I have to say I enjoyed the stimulating conversation.. it puts a smile on face reading that there are still sane people out there.. Cgo, TTo, brianbrave, tom, and others I am talking about you.... I would like to hire some of you as my lawyers

Try to ignore some of the less cooler heads around here lately. Listen to the good advice that some members brought forth. You did something wrong, got caught and you sound like you are ready to man up to it and take whatever the consequences are.

To all, the man here just made a post about an inciident that happened to him. We should try to listen to him, help him, learn from him and in a good-natured way take a few shots at him just to keep it light.

What the hell is happening to this forum?

It use to be a place I really looked forward to visiting every day to learn more about my beloved XFire and maybe make some new friends. Now it seems we are having more and more FIENDS going at each other on a totally personal level.

Can't we keep things on a higher level, not personal, and agree to disagree when necessitated?

Remember, this forum is all about this car:

What a bunch of candyasses. That's why we no longer live in a free country. Bunch of wimps that want the government to make them safe.oooohhh. I am afraid I might get hurt someday make me feel safe. Keep giving up your rights and **** Germany will look like Gilligan's Island. What happen to taking risks and enjoying life. Freedom has a price, and that price is blood. Otherwise we will give up everything to feel safe.

With that said, if there are small children around, playground or school, yeah drive near the speed limit. 5 over let's say. Highway there should not be a speed limit. I would love to have German highway rules, 200 would seem slow after commuting at that speed every day.

So show some spine, air out your car and, put the pedal to the metal baby.

In Virginia, you would have gone to jail on the spot more than likely, and loose you driving privs for at least 30 days. That just happened to a friend of mine that got nailed for 77 in a 45. Oh, getting your car out of impound isn't fun either.

Good luck with that.

yeah, props to leadfoot and everyone else who believes they can live with this guy doing that much over the speed limit in their neighborhoods. i didn't see the "original" post that was so hilarious....so i base my comments on what i saw after the edits. it appeared just plain stupid to me. in most cases, if the speed limit is 25....you could probably get away with going 35...maybe even 40. i find it hard to believe that you can safely do 45 over anywhere that's not on a highway. maybe i am wrong...i guess i must be...because it has been done safely. i say, if you want to drive like the eurpoeans on the autobahn...move there. i lived there for years and it was great...but the rules are here for a reason. if not for you, maybe it's for the other drivers on the road.

there are places to give your engine a "legal" workout without putting the other law abiding drivers on the road. but in the end, i guess i can agree to disagree! be eazi!

Before you guys skewer me, I am neither for nor against everything in this post. I recently got a "speeding ticket" that I will not disclose the speed to have a flame war started on me, but I did have to go through a defensive driving course because of it. DEFENSIVE not OFFENSIVE before someone starts taking my words out of context. Here's what I learned...

25mph zone....... two lane residential or school or work zones
35mph zone....... two lane residential
45mph zone....... two or four lane area with passing lanes most comonly found in thoroughfares & commercial disctricts
50mph zone....... two or four lane with medians, either separated or adjoined, rural areas with passing lanes
55mph zone....... two or four lane areas not described above
60mph and above...... restricted to interstates and bypasses

Any and all state governments have the right to lower speed limits to address issues within their juristdictions

After reading this, I reason that the less people around (children and such) the higher the speed limits. Not too many people walking across I-95 and if they do then they deserve to be hit, just not by my car, I don't want to have to pay. Pedestrians always have right of way due to them being the slowest.

Government is a necessary evil....but still evil.

"Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to have fun" - Ben Franklin (or real close).

This post is some old news. People just can't seem to hold back. They feel the undeniable urge to spew their judgement on Sidez.

He started this thread on accident while intoxicated. He was asking for advise. If you don't have any relating to the court battle that lies ahead, don't post. It's that simple.

Sidez, obviously you were in the wrong, so just man up and tell the judge that you were completely out of line, and that you will do what is required to put this incident in the past. Wear a nice suit and speak very professionally.

Good luck!
